Saved By The Bell Original

The '90s boasts many timeless TV series, but NBC's Saved by the Bell is truly a classic.

The series follows the lives and misadventures of high school students at Bayside High School in California. Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani Thiessen, Mario Lopez, Lark Voorhies, Dustin Diamond, Elizabeth Berkley, and Dennis Haskins star as a group of close-knit friends. Saved by the Bell features many quintessential high school themes, such as parties, school work, and family life, while occasionally tackling more serious topics — money management, drug abuse, drunk driving — in Very Special Episodes. The series launched the careers of much of its cast and created iconic characters still referenced today, like Screech and Mr. Belding.

Saved by the Bell ran for five seasons from 1987 to 1992, and inspired several spin-offs with members of the original cast: Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian StyleSaved by the Bell: The College Years, and Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las VegasSaved by the Bell: The New Class follows a brand new set of students at Bayside High, running for seven seasons from 1993-1999.

In 2020, Saved by the Bell received a Peacock reboot centered around a new generation of Bayside High students. Many members of the original Saved by the Bell cast reprise their roles, such as Lopez's character A.C. Slater, now a physical education teacher and football coach at Bayside High, and Berkley's Jessie Spano, the school's guidance counselor.

Saved by the Bell was packed with equal parts humor and heart, leading the show to become a favorite for both kids and adult viewers. Saved by the Bell was a massive success, with many fans tuning in as soon as they heard that iconic electric guitar riff theme indicating it was time to see what the students of Bayside High were getting into next. Saved by the Bell's impact is why the '90s hit has been revamped again and again, with fans still catching up with their favorite Bayside High students many years after the show's end.
