The "Third Party" in Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton's Marriage Is Not What You Think
The former Voice Coach stands by her advice!
According to Gwen Stefani, the secret behind her successful and happy marriage with Blake Shelton is all thanks to a third party involved in their relationship.
Wait, what?
During her April 23 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the former Coach of The Voice confided to the host that everybody should have a third party in their relationship to ensure smooth sailing! Stefani wasn't talking about a third person, however. Her advice to Drew Barrymore — and to viewers watching — was to "make sure you have a third party," a sentiment she said while pointing upwards, indicating she was referring to God.
Watch Gwen Stefani give that heartfelt advice here.
Unsurprisingly, Stefani's words elicited more than a few awwws from Barrymore's studio audience. It was so sweet!

Her admission is also not surprising in the slightest. Both Stefani and Shelton have a are open about their Christian faith, and it's one of many reasons why their marriage is as strong as it's ever been. (Embracing life on Shelton's Oklahoma ranch is another powerful reason.)
"Meeting my husband felt like a second chance at life," she explained to The Guardian in November 2024. "Because when my family fell apart, it felt like a catastrophe. How do you pick yourself up from that? But God put this other person there to love me."
As bleak as it seemed back then for the No Doubt frontwoman, in 2025, Stefani's family has never been stronger. Her three kids (Kingston, 18, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 11) and Shelton have quickly become best buds!
Gwen Stefani thought Blake Shelton was "hot" from day one

While she's publicly gone on the record saying how hard it was to entertain a new relationship so soon after a divorce, there's no denying that Stefani was attracted to Shelton from the very first time they met on The Voice.
One of the first public comments Stefani made about Shelton happened a decade ago. In a way, it was the cutest way of shooting her shot.
"I think he's hot, don't you?" she asked Ryan Seacrest in 2015. "But to be super honest, it is kind of crazy we both went through the same thing at the same time. There's been so many people that I've gotten so much comfort from. Just people coming to me and telling me their story. Not confiding, but sharing, which has just helped me see things from a different perspective and move forward."
