How Tall Do You Have to Be For the Rides at Epic Universe? Here's the Short Answer
From thrill rides to chill rides, we've compiled a breakdown of height requirements for the many wonders you can experience at Epic Universe.
Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe will soon open its doors, and NBC Insider is here to help you make the most of your epic visit.
Adventure awaits across all five mind-blowing worlds, each one unique in theme and experience and jam-packed with never-before-like-it attractions for guests of every kind. Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Dark Universe showcase a slew of rides for those craving the thrill and those craving the chill, all of which you can find in the easy-to-use “Universal FL” app.
There, Epic Universe explorers — and fans of Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, and Universal Volcano Bay — can download an interactive map and learn everything they need to make the most of their unforgettable visit.
It’s also where you can look up the height requirements for each attraction, as listed below.
Celestial Park
Astronomica: No height restrictions
Astronomica is an interactive water play area with dancing fountains, open to anyone ages 0 to 100, regardless of height. In the middle of Celestial Park, the purposefully designed attraction serves as a compass to guide guests toward the magical portals around Epic Universe.
Constellation Carousel: No height restrictions
People of all sizes won’t want to miss the chance to ride lions, dragons, and peacocks for a dazzling spin on the Constellation Carousel.
Although kid-friendly, this attraction has a “child swap” option, which allows someone to wait with a little one while the rest of the party rides. The advantage? Whoever waits with the child can ride the carousel without getting back in line!
Learn which Epic Universe rides feature the “child swap” option in the user-friendly app.
Stardust Racers: Minimum height of 48”
Those brave enough to embark on this “racing coaster” will have to be no less than 48” (4 feet) tall. It’s no wonder, given that the intergalactic, dual-launch thrill ride reaches speeds of 62 mph and climbs a heart-stopping 133 feet.
Test seating is available at the Stardust Racers’ entrance to ensure guests’ body types are suitable for riding, as is the case for many thrill rides around Epic Universe.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic
Harry Potter and the Battle of the Ministry: Minimum height of 40”
Suppose guests want to join Harry, Ron, and Hermione at the trial of Dolores Umbridge. In that case, they can travel via Métro-Floo as long as they’re 40” (about 3 feet, 4 inches) tall. However, those ranging between 40” and 48” (4 feet) tall must be accompanied by a supervising companion.
Outfitted with painstaking detail and backed by powerful storytelling, the highly sought-after attraction is one not to miss. We hear the butterbeer, alone, is worth the trip!
SUPER NINTENDO WORLD
Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge: Minimum height of 40”
Do-do-doot-do-do-doot-doot: Yes, it’s the Nintendo battle cry we’ve all come to know and love, welcoming us to a handful of rides, starting with Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge. Guests can throw shells and collect digital coins through this motion-simulated, 3-D/4-D experience, so long as they’re at least 40” (about 3 feet, 4 inches) tall.
Persons between the minimum 40” and 48” (4 feet) must be accompanied by a supervising companion.
Mine-Cart Madness: Minimum height of 40”
Riders will have to be at least 40” (about 3 feet, 4 inches) tall to take this family coaster through Kong Country. Like Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, those between 40” and 48” (4 feet) will have to be accompanied by a supervising companion if they want to help Donkey Kong protect the golden banana.
Yoshi’s Adventure: Minimum height of 34”
To ride the U.S. debut of Yoshi’s Adventure, riders wishing to soar across Super Mario Land in their own Yoshi cart must be 34” (2 feet, 10 inches) tall to ride. A supervising companion is required for anyone between 34” and 48” (4 feet) in height.
Like many rides at Epic Universe, this one allows guests to remain in a standard wheelchair, as shown in the “Universal FL” app.
How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk
Dragon Racer’s Rally: Minimum height of 48”
Berk’s new Vikings can practice aerobatic maneuvers and high-speed barrel rolls on this towering thrill ride if they’re 48” (4 feet) or taller. But will they have what it takes to become a dragon-racing champion? We hope so!
Fyre Drill: No height restrictions
This water attraction is suitable for guests of all heights, as long as they’re willing to get wet! The watery, interactive boat battle at sea invites teams of Vikings to blast water cannons at flame-like targets, a great way to pretend you’re putting out the dragon fires commonly found in Berk.
Like many of the attractions at Epic Universe, warriors can take advantage of an Express Pass for their gain.
Hiccup's Wing Gliders: No height restrictions
Dragon Riders 40” (about 3 feet, 4 inches) and above can join Hiccup and Toothless for this family-friendly coaster. Those between 40” and 48” (4 feet) tall must be accompanied by a supervising companion to ride the winged flying machine.
Viking Training Camp: No height restrictions
Young Vikings of any height can enter this play area, discovering all types of dragons as they climb, slide, and explore, all while homing in on their Dragon Rider skills.
Dark Universe
Curse of the Werewolf: Minimum height of 40”
Not for the faint of heart, this spinning rollercoaster reaches 37 m.p.h., traversing the dark forests and its many beastly creatures. Adventurous guests must be 40” (about 3 feet, 4 inches) tall to ride or, if between 40” and 48” (4 feet), accompanied by a supervising companion.
Thrill seekers, beware! There's no telling what's lurking around every howling corner.
Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment: Minimum height of 48”
Take caution, riders above 48” (4 feet), because things are going awry in Dr. Victoria Frankenstein’s lab, thanks to Dracula and his revolt of angry Universal Monsters.
Don’t miss The Mummy, The Wolf Man, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon as you try and escape the catacombs of Frankenstein’s manor for a horror-filled motion simulation.
