Dan + Shay Literally Sat on a House During Their Sweet The Voice Finale Performance

Future The Voice Coaches Dan + Shay performed live on the Season 24 Finale.

By James Grebey

The Voice Season 24 Finale featured performances from the four Coaches (John Legend, Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire, and Niall Horan). But it also featured a performance from a future Coach — or should we say Coaches. Country pop duo Dan + Shay (Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney) performed, and although they were among the guest musicians who played during the Season 24 Finale, next season they’ll be back and acting as Coaches themselves.

How to Watch

Watch the Season 26 premiere of The Voice on Monday, September 23 at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

The Season 24 Finale, which aired on Tuesday, December 19, was a musical extravaganza. In addition to Dan + Shay, Earth, Wind & Fire, Keith Urban, AJR, and Tyla performed, as did the four Coaches, who assembled to sing “Let It Snow” just in time for Christmas.

Dan + Shay Perform "Bigger Houses" on The Voice Season 24 Finale

The country duo performed an acoustic, pared down version of their hit song "Bigger Houses" in The Voice season finale episode, literally sitting on a small model house while they performed on the show's main stage. The performance was a fun preview of what Voice fans can expect when the pair join  the series next season as coaches.

Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, better known as Dan + Shay, are a chart-topping country pop duo best known for songs like "Tequila," "Speechless," and "10,000 Hours." Those three songs won them Grammy Awards in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The pair met in 2012 and released their debut single,  "19 You + Me,” the next year. Since then they have released five albums, Where It All Began, Obsessed, Dan + Shay, Good Things, and Bigger Houses.

If you enjoyed seeing Dan + Shay on The Voice Season 24 Finale, there’s a lot more where that came from. The two will be Coaches, seated in a special double chair, when The Voice returns for Season 25, which premieres on February 26, 2024, on NBC. Dan + Shay will be the first coaching duo in The Voice’s history. They’ll be joined by Legend and McEntire, who are returning after having been Coaches in Season 24, and Chance the Rapper, who was a Coach in Season 23.
