Before the case goes to trial, members of the 27th Precinct, led by Lt. Jessica Brady (Maura Tierney), and the Special Victims Unit, headed up by Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), work together to try to track down who's responsible for a series of murders and sex assaults.

A synopsis of the first part reads: "A mysterious phone call to Capt. Benson of the Special Victims Unit leads detectives to the scene of a brutal murder." And as a description of the second part reads, "When the SVU and the 2-7 uncover a pattern of rape and murder targeting marginalized women, Carisi and ADA Price team up to charge the suspect with multiple crimes."

With so many different characters across different shows playing crucial roles in the crossover, it's easy to lose track. So, here's a run down of all the main cast members featured in the event.

Lieutenant Jessica Brady

Lt. Jessica Brady (Maura Tierney) may have had a rocky start when she joined the 27th Precinct as a tough, no-nonsense boss at the start of Law & Order Season 24, but it didn’t take her long to earn her detectives’ respect thanks to her unparalleled interrogation skills and investigative prowess.

In her short time with the squad, Brady’s proved she’s willing to do what’s right — even if it means putting her own career on the line. When a detective in her former precinct killed a fellow officer to protect his dark deeds, Brady took the stand to break the blue wall of silence to send him to prison.

Fans have also learned about Brady's life away from the station with her two grown sons. Her relationship with son Leo was strained after he battled addiction issues, but in “Time Will Tell,” Brady decided to give him another chance to prove he’s now on the right path.

Detective Vincent Riley looking off to the side in Law and Order Season 24, Episode 19.

Detective Vincent Riley

When Vincent Riley joined the 27th Precinct in Season 23 of Law & Order, he was on a redemptive path after coming off a suspension for punching a police captain who insulted former Lieutenant Kate Dixon (Camryn Manheim). But it didn’t take him long to prove his place as a valued member of the squad, committed to doing the right thing.

That couldn’t have been on display more than when he arrested his own brother Matt (Ryan Eggold) earlier in Season 24. Riley made the difficult arrest after Matt refused to testify against a friend accused of murder, even though he tried to set his brother up with a deal for his testimony that would have kept Matt out of jail for his own misdeeds.

District Attorney Nicholas Baxter

District Attorney Nicholas Baxter (Tony Goldwyn) had some large shoes to fill when he was appointed to the post last season in the wake of legendary DA Jack McCoy’s (Sam Waterston) retirement, but his recent election has proved he’s winning in the court of public opinion. He’s also been making strides to earn the respect of the attorneys in the Manhattan DA’s office.

But, life as a public figure has come with a cost. At the end of Law & Order Season 23, Baxter’s marriage to his wife Julia (Tara Westwood) imploded after she felt that he was putting his political life ahead of his family. With Baxter adjusting to life as a newly single bachelor, fans have seen him dip his toe back into the dating waters, most recently with attorney girlfriend Kate Norris (Maggie Siff). Work may have gotten in the way of romance yet again, however, in Season 24’s “Crossing Lines” after Norris and Baxter found themselves on opposite sides of an emotional courtroom moral dilemma.

A.D.A. Nolan Price standing in a court room in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit Season 26, Episode 20.

Executive Assistant District Attorney Nolan Price

With the departure of his mentor Jack McCoy, Price struggled to adjust to his new boss, Baxter. But as their time working together grows, the two men seem to have found a good working rapport with one another built on mutual respect.

Outside of work, Price has faced other turmoil. Throughout Season 24, he struggled to come to terms with his father’s ailing health. In “The Hardest Thing,” fans met the prosecutor’s brother Thomas — played by Shameless star Justin Chatwin — for the first time as the two men faced off about how to handle their father’s care and later joined together to say an emotional goodbye to the family patriarch.

Assistant District Attorney Samantha Maroun (Odelya Halevi) in Season 24 Episode 1 of Law & Order.

Assistant District Attorney Samantha Maroun

Assistant District Attorney Samantha Maroun (Odelya Halevi) has proven herself to be a dependable ally as Price’s second chair on Law & Order, often seeing the more emotional or nuanced side of a complicated case. As her time with the DA’s office has grown, Maroun has become more confident in speaking her mind with well-crafted arguments that have the power to sway both Price and Baxter.

She came close to laying her career on the line, however, when memories of her sister’s tragic death at the hands of a romantic partner came surging back during a difficult case. In “Catch and Kill,” Maroun was tormented after a man who helped a chronic abuser kill his fiancée was let go because the defense intimidated a crucial witness into refusing to testify. It hit too close to home for Maroun, whose sister’s killer was never arrested, and she went to track down the witness on her own — putting her own legal career in jeopardy — until Price intervened and stopped her just feet from the man’s door.

Captain Olivia Benson with her hands together in Law and Order Season 24, Episode 19.

Captain Olivia Benson

Throughout Season 26 of SVU, the indomitable Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) hasn't had much time to relax as her relentless pursuit of justice continues. From intense interrogations to explosive courtroom showdowns, Benson's been forced to stay on her toes as she tackles whatever chaotic case comes her way. She's also been expanding her elite squad, recruiting Detective Kate Silva (Juliana Aidén Martinez) for her fearless unit. Benson's instincts about Silva's skills have been spot on, as the detective has been a fantastic addition to her team.

A.D.A Dominick Sonny Carisi Jr. sitting in court in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit Season 26, Episode 20.

Assistant District Attorney Sonny Carisi

A.D.A. Sonny Carisi (Peter Scanavino) has undoubtedly struggled in Season 26 of SVU, both in and out of the courtroom. After interrupting a robbery in progress and being held hostage by two gunmen for hours, Carisi went from lawyer to murder witness. He suffered from tremendous survivor's guilt and PTSD after the ordeal, and to make matters worse, Carisi had to testify against the surviving gunman in court, dredging up all of the calamity. With Carisi's testimony, he was finally able to find peace after the gunmen received a life sentence.

On several occasions, Carisi and the squad have received a visit from his wife, SVU-alum-turned-Intelligence Unit Sergeant Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish). Rollins has returned to the fold numerous times in Season 26, whether to help Benson and the squad with a large-scale case or to support her husband throughout his harrowing circumstances.

Meanwhile, Detective Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) has settled in quite nicely at the SVU, far removed from his newbie status with years of dedication to the Manhattan unit.
