Bryan Olesen’s Face Watching Daughter Jadyn Cree’s Battle Live Was So Emotional

Two generations of The Voice talent in one room!

By Elizabeth Logan

The Voice Artist Jadyn Cree had so many great supporters in her corner during the Battles for Season 27. She's got her Coach, Michael Bublé; her Battle Advisor, the award-winning Cynthia Erivo; and most importantly, her father, Bryan Olesen, himself a singer and a veteran of The Voice. (He placed third in Season 25 on Team Legend.)

Bryan Olesen couldn't be prouder of his daughter on The Voice

How to Watch

Watch The Voice on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

During Battles rehearsals, Cree struggled to connect emotionally to "Danny's Song" by Loggins and Messina, which is about a man becoming a father. “I have two cats and they’re both boys…” the young singer offered. "I think you [should] think about your dad," Coach Bublé advised.

Erivo, too, had wise words. When Cree didn't quite hit the low note in one section, she suggested, “There’s something kind of beautiful about that anyway."

When it came time to perform, Cree's talent and natural magnetism drew praise from the Coaches. John Legend called her voice "whispering and powerful at the same time," and Adam Levine said that it was "intoxicating watching you." In the audience, Olesen looked on with tears in his eyes, fingers pressed to his lips, so incredibly proud.

Bublé declared Cree the winner of the round and praised her humility. While backstage, Olesen gave his daughter the biggest hug, yelling, "You did it!"

Olesen was at Cree's Blind Audition, too, watching his daughter sing an upbeat rendition of "Still Into You" by Paramore.

"I imagine, Bryan, this is probably the greatest moment of your life so far," Coach Bublé said, to which Olesen replied, "It's pretty great." Bublé, Legend, and Coach Adam Levine, all fathers of daughters, agreed, while Coach Kelsea Ballerini, a dog mom, did her best to relate.

On a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Legend spoke about Cree's first audition, telling Kelly Clarkson (a former Voice Coach) that if he'd known the family connection, he would have recruited Cree. "It’s really blind. The show really sticks to that premise. And then sometimes we just make a mistake," he admitted.

"Jadyn, I know you’re incredibly talented and you’re going to do amazing. But what gives me the most joy and pride is how beautiful you are inside and out. And now the world will get to see who you are. I love you sweetheart! Enjoy the ride!!" Olesen wrote on Instagram when his daughter made it on the show. Too sweet.
