Season 5 of Law & Order: Organized Crime certainly isn't shying away from shocking plotlines.
Just a week after the drama series returned — and launched on its new home, Peacock — a beloved character who's been on the show since the beginning said goodbye to the NYPD's Organized Crime Control Bureau in Episode 3.
The detective's decision saddened colleagues already saddled with a massive case that saw Det. Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) knocked unconscious when a truck rammed into his vehicle in the Season 5 premiere. Thankfully, Stabler woke up in Episode 2 (which dropped on Peacock the same day as the premiere) — just in time to see his older brother Randall (Dean Norris) hit on his former partner, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), in his hospital room.
With Stabler on the mend and back at work, it seemed the OCCB was whole again, until one member came to the shocking decision to split.

While it's not stated exactly why Jet Slootmaekers left the Organized Crime Control Bureau, it's implied that the detective accepted a job offer she got with the FBI while she was out on leave from the NYPD. Jet made the decision while taking some time off from work in Season 5, Episode 3 after she was attacked and roughed up during an undercover mission in the prior episode.

In Season 5, Episode 2 of Law & Order: Organized Crime, titled "Dante’s Inferno," Jet went undercover to infiltrate an underground trucker meetup to find a suspect. She was attacked from behind and knocked to the ground. “She needs some time," Sergeant Ayanna Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt) said in that episode. "I just hope she’s able to make her way back to us."
In Episode 3, after Stabler asked Det. Bobby Reyes (Rick Gonzalez) what was going on with Jet since she hadn't returned to work, Reyes informed him: "We broke up a few weeks ago. We haven’t talked. This trucker serial case really messed her up."
