Maya Erskine stars as Nurse Ji-Sung on NBC's new medical series "Heartbeat."

A Los Angeles native, Erskine studied theater at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and then went on to the theater program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. After graduation, she continued to immerse herself in the theater by performing with the East West Players and at the Geffen Playhouse. She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress as Ophelia in "Hamlet" for the 2013 L.A. Weekly Theater Awards.

Erskine was the female lead on the Amazon show "Betas." Other TV credits include FXX's "Man Seeking Woman" and HBO's upcoming series "Insecure."

Erskine also writes, produces and recently shot a presentation for The Lonely Island's "Party Over Here."
