Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Detective Michael Hitchcock

Played by Dirk Blocker

Actor Bio

Dirk Blocker plays Detective Michael Hitchcock on NBC's Golden Globe Award-winning comedy "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."

It's no surprise Blocker ended up in entertainment, as his father, Dan Blocker, was a star on one of the biggest shows in TV history, "Bonanza." Blocker would eventually catch the acting bug and began booking guest-starring roles ("Little House on the Prairie") before finally landing his first series regular role in the WWII-based series "Baa Baa Black Sheep." Since then, Blocker has appeared in many film and TV projects, including "The Border," "Poltergeist," "Starman," "M*A*S*H," "Newhart," "21 Jump Street," "Matlock," "The X-Files," "ER," "Deadwood," "Criminal Minds" and, most recently, "There's... Johnny!"

Between acting jobs, Blocker went back to school to earn his bachelor of arts degree so he could teach K-12. His love for children and learning is what inspired him to his recent foray into the literary realm with his new book, "Master and the Little Monk," a fable for youngsters of all ages that tells the story of a lonely young boy who is befriended by a unique ally and mentor.

Blocker is married to Danielle Aubuchon. The couple resides in Southern California.
