Panjabi won the Emmy Award in 2010 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of the intriguing and mysterious Kalinda Sharma on "The Good Wife," a performance that led The New York Times to name her one of "Eight Actors Who Turn Television into Art." She was also nominated for the same award in 2011 and 2012.
Panjabi made her film debut in the British hit "East Is East." Additional feature film credits include "Traitor," "Bend It Like Beckham," "The Constant Gardener," "A Mighty Heart," "A Good Year" and the title role in "Yasmin," which earned her the Best Actress Award at the Reims Festival and the Shooting Star Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. She was named one of the Top 10 Faces on TV to Watch by Variety, celebrated as one of the Breakout TV Stars of the Year by Entertainment Weekly and was named as one of the Most Original Performances in Prime Time by People magazine.
Panjabi has gained worldwide recognition for her contribution to diversity in the media as well as for her philanthropic endeavors, including Rotary International in partnership with UNICEF, the Gates Foundation, the CDC and World Health Organization for the "This Close" international campaign to eradicate the last 1% of polio left in the world, and the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
In support of women's rights, she has partnered with Amnesty International to head their "Stop Violence Against Women" campaign. In 2011, she accepted an invitation to participate in Harvard University's prestigious Artist in Residence Program and received an honorary Doctorate of Letters from her alma mater, Brunel University in England, where she graduated with a degree in management studies.
