Actor Bio

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje plays Frank Majors on NBC's new drama "American Odyssey."

Television audiences got their first glimpse of Akinnuoye-Agbaje in the groundbreaking drama "Oz" playing Simon Adebisi, a murderous drug addict with intellect and brawn. The series received both widespread critical and audience acclaim, and earned him two NAACP nominations for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series (2000) and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (2001).

On the heels of "Oz's" success, Akinnuoye-Agbaje switched gears and took on the challenge of the big screen in the "The Mummy Returns" and "The Bourne Identity," alongside Matt Damon in the iconic Jason Bourne action series. This was followed by Oscar-nominated director Jim Sheridan's "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," in which he starred alongside Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.

Returning to the small screen in 2006, Akinnuoye-Agbaje joined the cast of the hugely popular show "Lost" in its second season. The show's rabid fan base was quick to embrace the mysterious character of Mr. Eko. Akinnuoye-Agbaje and the cast won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at the Screen Actors Guild Awards that year, and the show also won the Golden Globe for Best Drama Series.

Continuing to challenge himself, Akinnuoye-Agbaje wrote and directed his first feature short "Farming." The film debuted at Robert Redford's prestigious 2007 Sundance Labs, and he won the Annenberg Award for best new writer and director. The project is currently in development as a feature film with producer Michael London and Groundswell Productions.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje's other film credits include the international box office hit "Thor: The Dark World"; the Roman period epic "Pompeii"; the independent feature "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete," opposite Jennifer Hudson; "G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra"; "Faster," opposite Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson; "Killer Elite," opposite Robert De Niro, Clive Owen and Jason Statham; the remake of the "The Thing"; a critically acclaimed performance in the independent drama "Best Laid Plans"; and, most recently, "Annie," opposite Jamie Foxx and Quvenzhané Wallis.

He has several upcoming projects, including a role on the fifth season of HBO's "Game of Thrones"; Jay Roach's film "Trumbo," about the life of famed writer Dalton Trumbo with Bryan Cranston, Helen Mirren and John Goodman; and Peter Landesman's NFL drama "Concussion," opposite Will Smith, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Alec Baldwin.
