Actor Bio

Greta Scacchi stars as Mother Mary on NBC's "A.D. The Bible Continues." Scacchi is an award-winning Italian-Australian actress known for her roles in the comedies "The Player" and "Emma" as well as the dramas "White Mischief" and "Presumed Innocent." Scacchi has appeared in many film, television and theater productions. She has received wide recognition for her talents, including a BAFTA nomination for her debut in "Heat and Dust" as well as SAG and Golden Globe nominations for her role on the TV miniseries "Broken Trail." Scacchi has won numerous awards, including an Emmy for the role of Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna of Russia in the television film "Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny."

Scacchi has seen recent success both on screen and on stage. In September 2013, she performed at The Old Vic in London as Regan in William Shakespeare's "King Lear." Her latest credits include playing Miss Mantel in the film "The Falling" and Arkadina in Anton Chekov's "The Seagull" at the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia.

Scacchi is currently shooting the BBC TV series "War and Peace," playing the role of Countess Rostova.
