Actor Bio

James Callis stars as Antipas in NBC's drama series "A.D. The Bible Continues."

Callis is best known for playing Dr. Gaius Baltar in the Peabody and Emmy Award-winning "Battlestar Galactica" miniseries and television series, and Bridget Jones' best friend in "Bridget Jones's Diary" and "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason." For his performance as Baltar, Callis won the Best Supporting Actor Saturn Award and an AFI award.

In 1996, he received the Jack Tinker Award for Most Promising Newcomer at The Critics' Circle Theatre Awards for his performance in "Old Wicked Songs." He also previously appeared on "CSI," "Key & Peele," "Arrow," "Eureka," "Portlandia," "Merlin," "FlashForward" and "Numbers."

Callis recently finished arcs on the "The Musketeers" for BBC and the thriller "Matador" for the El Rey Network, and filmed "Reuniting the Rubins" and "Austenland," which was an official selection of the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Callis can currently be seen in the eight-part Australian miniseries "Gallipoli," and will soon be appearing in the films "Blood Moon" and "House by the Lake."
