Director James Gunn Fired From 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3' Over Controversial Past Tweets

James Gunn is no longer part of the MCU. The filmmaker was let go from the third "Guardians of the Galaxy" film after nearly decade-old tweets resurfaced in which he made jokes about pedophilia and rape. Gunn took "full responsibility" in an apology statement, saying in part that he has "regretted" the posts "for many years."
