Helen Hunt

Helen Hunt is a gifted actress, director, producer, and screenwriter. As an actress, her extensive and diverse body of work is comprised of roles on television, in theater, and on film. While Hunt is best known for her performances as an actress, she is also a talented director, screenwriter, and producer. In 2011, she completed two independent film projects - Steven Bernstein's "Decoding Annie Parker" with Samantha Morton along with Ben Lewin's "The Surrogate" opposite William H. Macy and John Hawkes. "The Surrogate" premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival after being accepted in the U.S. Dramatic Competition. Within hours of its festival debut, the film was acquired by indie giant Fox Searchlight.

Other film credits include: "Soul Surfer," "Every Day," "Bobby," "Then She Found Me" (which Hunt also co-wrote, produced, and directed), "As Good as It Gets," "What Women Want," "Castaway," "A Good Woman," Woody Allen's "The Curse of the Jade Scorpion," Robert Altman's "Dr. T and the Women," "Pay It Forward," and "Twister."

For her role as Jamie Buchman in "Mad About You," Hunt garnered four Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She was also named Best Actress for her role in the film "As Good as It Gets" for which Hunt won a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and an Oscar.

Hunt has directed television episodes of "Mad About You," "The Paul Reiser Show," and most recently an upcoming installment of Showtime's "Californication." In 2007, she directed her first feature film "Then She Found Me" based on a novel by Elinor Lipman which ThinkFilm distributed. Hunt also co-wrote, produced, and starred in the film opposite Colin Firth, Matthew Broderick, and Bette Midler.

Hunt is equally accomplished theater actress who is currently reprising the role of Stage Manager in David Cromer's latest production of "Our Town." Additional Broadway credits include "Twelfth Night" (Viola) at Lincoln Center and "Life X Three" at Circle in the Square.

A Los Angeles native, Hunt grew up in an artistic environment. Her father, Gordon Hunt, is a director and respected acting coach. Her grandmother, Dorothy Fries, is her singing teacher and is widely considered one of Hollywood's finest voice coaches. Hunt currently lives in Los Angeles with her partner, Matthew Carnahan, her daughter Makena Lei and her stepson Emmett.
