Mary McCormack plays Caroline Yoder in NBC's new comedy "Welcome to the Family."
McCormack is one of today's boldest and most versatile actresses, continually challenging herself with roles that often defy Hollywood standards and bring to light the complex lives of ordinary women.
McCormack recently completed production on "The Compound," an independent feature film that follows two star-crossed teens on a polygamist compound who fight their families' religious tradition to be together. She previously starred in USA Network's hit original series "In Plain Sight," which concluded its five-season run last year.
A Broadway veteran, McCormack returned to the stage in 2008 to star in "Boeing-Boeing" alongside Christine Baranski, Mark Rylance and Bradley Whitford. Marc Camoletti's classic 1960s comedy earned her a 2008 Tony nomination. Additional stage credits include a highly successful run opposite Alan Cumming in the Sam Mendes- and Rob Marshall-directed Broadway production of "Cabaret" for the Roundabout Theater Company. In addition, she starred in the London stage production of Neil LaBute's play "Bash" as well as the David Warren-directed productions of "My Marriage to Ernest Borgnine" and "A Fair Country."
McCormack's breakout performance opposite Howard Stern in the 1997 film "Private Parts" won her universal critical acclaim. Some of McCormack's additional television and feature credits include Aaron Sorkin's NBC political series, "The West Wing," a recurring role on "ER," the Stephen King thriller "1408," Christopher Guest's "For Your Consideration," the Steven Soderbergh and George Clooney HBO political series, "K Street," and the USA Network miniseries "Traffic."
In addition, McCormack has appeared in such films as "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star" opposite David Spade; "K-Pax" opposite Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey; "High Heels and Low Lifes" with Minnie Driver; and "Gun Shy" with Sandra Bullock and Liam Neeson. She also co-starred in the Clint Eastwood film "True Crime," Mimi Leder's "Deep Impact," and "The Alarmist" opposite Stanley Tucci.
Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, McCormack is a graduate of Trinity College and resides with her family in Los Angeles.
