Battle Wrap Up 3

Did we REALLY have to say goodbye to more artists this week? Yes...we did...sigh...

RAQUEL AND JULIA
This was the first battle that I got to lay my ears on during rehearsals, and it was at that point that I realized how AMAZING this show was going to be.  They're both so young and powerful.  Julia was an incredibly gracious loser, even joking that she was so happy to have been paired with Raquel because she had "Minor Power"- meaning their rehearsals were always at a decent hour of the day since Raquel (who's under 18 years old, therefore a minor) had classes to attend, while other pairs had really early or really late rehearsals.  They even had a hand signal for it.

DIA AND SERABEE
This was the most baffling battle of the whole group.  No one on production understood the pairing, and as you saw, it turned into the most random performance to date.  We all knew there was a really good chance Serabee would eat Dia alive.  And I truly believe that this was a decision that could have gone the other way if Blake had just put on a different pair of shoes that morning.  Their styles are so different, it seems almost impossible to compare them, but Blake had his reasons.  Let's hope it pays off...

I'm gonna come clean: the digital team had a poll for the Battle Rounds with our picks for who was advancing to the live shows.  I think this is the only battle that we ALL got wrong.  Not that we don't have a ton of love for Devon, but Rebecca is such a natural at this game, it seemed like a shoe in.  Boy were WE proved wrong!  Devon rose to the challenge and then flew beyond it.  Also, let's give him props for being the only dude to perform in this episode!  I couldn't be more excited for him.  And for those of you who love Rebecca (which you all should), do yourselves a favor: look up her music and thank me later.

As our only other threesome in the Battles, I was VERY excited to hear the harmonies between these 3 adorable girls.  I also think that this was one of the duels that could have fallen to either artist.  As Adam said. "It was just too cute!"  I think keeping the duo in the competition is going to do Cee Lo well, and I'm pretty sure we all know that Kelsey Rey is going to do just fine in her career.

Song of the week for me?  Creep.  I want Rebecca and Devon to go on tour together.  Pretty please with sugar on top????
