THE BATTLE: The Aftermath

Dear Music Lovers and Friends,

I looked damn good tonight! Haha. They had me up in these leather pants with some fly shoes and rocking the v-neck. No jokes about the v-neck. If Captain Kirk can rock the v-neck, its okay with me.

But to the Battle. Talk about THE MOST never wracking night of my life. I hate waiting. I waited all day to touch this stage. I felt ready. Nakia and I have been practicing this song together and we had it down. I wanted to impress Cee Lo. I wanted to take it to the next level!

So the stage was crazy. Its set up like a boxing ring. Lol. Its cool. I came in from one side of the stage and Nakia on the other. And ALL of the judges were facing us with their guests. That was different. Their eyes were very judge-y. They meant business.

So the band behind us began to play Closer by Ne-Yo and it was time. I was feeling good, I was singing my heart out, and then it was Nakia's part of the verse, and he was rocking out, and then we got to the chorus where we were singing back and forth. My favorite part in the song was when we both hit the chorus towards the end of the song and we are singing in harmony. It was bananas.

After the song was finished, Carson Daly comes up between us, and addresses the judges. I don't remember who spoke first, it's still kind of a blur but I know that Adam wasn't familiar with the song to begin with (lol that's kind of an interesting and honest moment for a major star) but he really liked the way Nakia did the song. Okay, that was cool. And then Blake, something to the effect that he enjoyed Nakia. Oh I think I was smiling but inside my face fell. Then Christina, said she really liked me. That was great. But what did my Coach think?

He let Monica go first, and she started with me. She told me I had a voice artists would kill for. That boosted me for a second, but I could hear a 'but' coming from her. BUT, she said Nakia she loved. And she loved how aggressive he was with the song. I think she called me forgettable. Yeah, I think the smile was still on my face but it was hard hearing that.

So it comes down to Cee Lo. Cee Lo looked at us and then he said he had to go with Nakia. And he was so happy.

I think we shared a hug and then it was time for me to go backstage and meet up with my friends. Who of course offered words of encouragement but still it hurt my feelings. I was numb. It's not the end of the world by any means. It's just the end of me on this show. I'm a musician and a songwriter. I will still do me.

Nakia is my buddy. And a great guy. And I will be rooting for him whole heartedly. Because we had an awesome song.

This is the part where I say 'this isn't the last you will see of me. I will make it in the industry' and all that jazz. And I will. It's all about the journey. And this was spectacular. I got to meet Cee Lo! Christina Aguilera thinks I'm cute. It's the fro.
