The blind auditions - aka the coaches' battles - hit their next to last night. With just a handful of slots remaining, both the artists and coaches are nervous: a misstep now could mean waiting until next year. Will Champlin is the night's first hopeful. The son of Grammy-winner Bill Champlin (Chicago, Sons of Champlin), singer-songwriter Will is looking to connect with a coach who can turbocharge his career. His take on Gavin Degraw's "Not Over You" is a fine fit for his blue-eyed soul, and as he pushes through the power ballad, Blake punches in, followed by Adam and CeeLo. "Hey Will. I love you," Blake tells him. "I think we could win this thing." But despite the kind words, Will knows Adam's the right fit for him. He's followed onstage by Macey Estes, an 18-year-old singer-dancer who's moving away from her show-tune roots into hip-hop. Her take on "The Way" is filled with energy, but her lack of range ultimately holds the coaches back.
