Coaches Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, CeeLo Green and Adam Levine return to The Voice stage to begin the highly anticipated battles. Each coach must begin paring down his or her team by pitting two members in do-or-die duets; after the two artists finish singing, their coach must choose who will move on to the next round. This season for the first time, the other coaches will have the option of stealing the battle loser, i.e. saving them onto their own teams. Each coach has two steals available; if two coaches want to steal the same artist the ultimate decision rests with the artist. It’s a new twist and it’s got both artists and coaches very excited.
