Vicci Martinez's blog

At only 26 years of age, this bluesy soul singer from Tacoma, Washington has already opened for or shared the stage with notables such as Sting, Annie Lennox, B.B. King, the Doobie Brothers, Etta James, and Jonny Lang. She draws strong support from her family - and the memory of her father, who passed away five years ago.

From The Heart

BLIND AUDITIONS
OK, so last time I was on here I said I wasn't nervous...I lied! well. kinda...maybe its more excitement then nerves! or maybe its just all this waiting! I'm was supposed to audition later in the day, but  they brought me here this morning...ahhh...the anticipation! Also kinda bummed about who might have to go home. Everyone here has been sooo nice and fun! Especially my new BFF Shelly Fairchild! Maybe that's why the universe brought me here, to meet Shelly! It was instant!! Right when I arrived in LA we had a meeting and there was one open seat right next to her...so I took it...didn't even look for another seat..Magnetic!! So whatever happens, I'm glad I met my friend Shelly!!! Buuuuttttt.....I do hope I get to move on, Duh! And that's what's eating me up...singing in front of these amazing musicians!!! Cee-Lo, Christina, Adam, Blake...AHHHH!! so nervous I am!! just gonna sing from my heart! here we go!

DONE!!! I'M GOING WITH CEE-LO!! Yes, my first pick!! Christina also gave me a turn around, but Cee-Lo said the right words...he said he could tell I was singing from my heart, and that's why he picked me!! HELLOO??? I was even wearing my Heart necklace my mom gave me...FROM THE HEART!!! perfect!

so i guess I'm sticking around....just gonna ENJOY THE RIDE!!!

POST BLIND AUDITION
d.Vicci_Emily_Roomie.jpgBeen hanging in not so sunny Los Angeles! I'm from Washington and I think the weather followed me here! It's ok, we've all been having a great time together! Miss Emily Valentine is my new roomy...and a great one she is! She makes me coffee every morning! With peppermint creamer...mmmmm! I did get pretty sick though right after the Blind Auditions. It's like all that excitement was way too much for my immune system it went KABOOM!! So I've been taking it slow, which is great that we've had such a chill week! Meanwhile, in Rainy Tacoma Washington, my girlfriend and I bought a house! Never lived in, Brand new...we got to design it too! So stoked! We've been together 2 years, and have never had a place of our own...and now we're real live HOMO-wners!! ;)

She did have to sign ALLL the paperwork for me though, as power of attorney...not fun! Kinda bummed I'm not moving into my new home right now, but it will be there when I get back, and I would never change this experience for anything! Meeting great new people, the crew here is really great too...all around a pleasant experience. Even the getting sick part...I have been grinning since I got off my plane!!
