Dear Music Lovers and Friends---My name is Tje (pronounced like TY) Austin and welcome to my Voice blog. Just a little info on me: I am black Hawaiian; I was adopted when I was 4 days old; my family is Mormon and I have been singing since I was a little guy in diapers. I heard about auditioning for The Voice through a buddy on fb who told me the day before Austin Auditions were to take place. I tried out because I want the world to know my music. I know I am a great singer and I think I write some pretty badass songs!
So here I am. I'm away from home and though I'm dying without my xbox 360 (elder scrolls oblivion and Star Wars Knights of the Republic 2) I am apart of the show! For my open audition I performed an acoustic version of Outkasts "Hey Ya" which is pretty mellow and sweet sounding. Then they asked me if I could do any upbeat songs. So I started to sing John Legend's Used To Love You. They thanked me for my time and I thought that was it. They said they would call me. Lol. Yeah I've heard that before. But they did. They flew me out to Cali and now I am among some crazy good artists.
Meeting some of the other artists I've come to the conclusion that the competition is pretty stiff. I have yet to hear one bad voice! LOL. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but it feels great to be in such company. I was even given a nickname, FRODO. Clever.
I'm ready to show the world what I got! The Blind Audition should be interesting. Somebody better turn around when I sing! Please...
