Feeling a Little Emotional

It's the day before the first live show and things are starting to feel real for me.  Last Thursday, Blake took our whole team out to dinner and karaoke in Los Angeles.  There was a lot of goofing around, as I'm sure you can imagine with Blake, but one of the serious things I did get the opportunity to chat with him about, was how his music career began and got started. Both of us remember standing in front of a mirror singing to an imaginary audience of thousands.  I told Blake that inevitably my Dad would walk in the room every time I was in the middle of announcing myself on "stage" as a multi-Grammy award winning artist.  It was so embarrassing, but the moment he would close the door I would go right back to imagining myself on the biggest stage possible.

So now as I prepare to return to the set for a rehearsal of the show, I can't help but think back on those dreams.  Tomorrow night I will walk on stage in front of a live audience of over a thousand and a television audience of millions!  I get the chills just thinking about it.  I am truly living the one dream that has occupied my mind for as long as I can remember.

The best piece of advice Blake has given our team thus far is to live in the moment, enjoy the experience, and forget about the competition.  I'm making that my goal tomorrow.  When I open my mouth to sing all I want to think about is the message of my song, and the best way to convey that message and move millions.  If I do that, win or lose on the show, I have succeeded.
