Thanks for checking in on my blog! Hope you all liked the first show.
Before I get into show stuff I just want to tell you a little bit about me.
As you know, my name is Javier Colon. I'm 33 yrs old and am originally from Stratford, CT.
Why I auditioned...... a brief history
I thought I had "made it" but it was short lived. I was dropped after releasing 2 albums that didn't to as well as the label would have liked. I've tried for the last 5 years to find a new record deal but no one wanted to give me another chance. I am unfortunately seen as a huge risk because of my failed Capitol deal.
Then I thought, "Well, maybe I don't need a big label anyway. I'll just do it myself"!
I recorded and released an acoustic EP last year on my own which I am very proud of but in the grand scheme of things, it was another failure.
For work, have been running around the country doing college shows, club shows, singer/songwriter nights, opening for other artists, and performing for anyone that would listen. To make ends meet. The life I was living wasn't going to last forever and the career path I was on was a certain dead end. It was just a matter of time. I have a wife and two young daughters that I have to provide for. At some point soon, I would have to do whatever it takes to put food on the table, even if that meant not singing and doing something else.
I heard about this opportunity through my manager. After a lot of thought I decided that I had nothing to lose and went to audition. You wouldn't believe this but I actually tried to cancel the audition. I'll tell you that story another day though.
Honestly, I really have no idea how this is all going to turn out. I'm honored to have had the chance to perform for so many people on such a huge platform. I'm hoping for the best. So far, so good. There's a long road ahead. I just hope I'm on the right one this time.
