V-Correspondent - Javier Colon

Javier Colon's blog

This soulful pop singer's father worked at a radio station, immersing his son in music from an early age; by 13, Javier was writing his own songs. His young talent led to touring gigs and even a contract with Capitol Records, but his career never really took off. Now, the devoted husband and father of two is taking a final shot at pursing his musical dreams before leaving music behind to support his family.

The Fam

Got to hang with my wife and babies for a few days. I wasn't able to leave the hotel but my wife, Maureen made sure our daughters, Solana and Amaia, had a good time.

They were so good while on set. Well, for the most part. They were a bit restless but that's to be expected from a 3yr old and a 20 month old being in one place for 8 hours without their toys and stuff to play with. At one point we were being interviewed and my 3yr old was jumping up and down trying to grab the boom mic. We were trying to be all serious but it was pretty funny.

When they got back, Solana kept talking about all the Zebras, Elephants, Giraffes and Lions she saw. They missed the Hippos but we'll try and catch them next time.

I absolutely love my family. I'm so happy that my wife and daughters were able to come out. Would not have been the same without them. My brother Pablo flew out last minute to support me, which was so awesome. My mother in law came out with my wife and the kids to help out which was huge!!

Thank you guys for being there for me. I couldn't imagine going through that without you.
