The best thing about this show (and this "ride" shall I call it?) so far, has been meeting all the other artists.
These aren't people who are waitresses or retail workers dreaming of
becoming musicians. These are people who aren't dreaming, but working
for it every single day. Some people are in a band at home like me.
Some people have been touring all their lives. Some used to be on a
label but were dropped, like me. Some were on a label and recorded a
record but it never came out... that happens more often than you'd like
to think. Some sang on Broadway. Some have done a few talent shows
like this before. Some are seasoned song writers who have written songs
that have been on the top charts. Some sing in Barber shop quartets at
home. These are musicians, artists, singers from all walks of life,
and they're all stuffed into this hotel with me and I get so excited
each morning to wake up and go pick their brains.
Curtis and I, (a wonderful country singer) even got to writing a song together which I think turned out pretty well. It's fun to write songs with other artists I respect. I hope to write some more, perhaps with Tje Austin (great singer!) or my room mate Angela Wolff. (She's the most positive, optimistic and awesome person I have met in a long time). I have actually been good at remembering everyone's names. I'm usually terrible with names.
