V-Correspondent - Casey Weston

Casey Weston's blog

This high school senior from Naples, Florida is passionate about two things: music and animals. The child of two professional volleyball players, Casey was being groomed for a career as an athlete. But at age 13, the urge to perform took over, and Casey's musical star has been on the rise ever since.

Night Of The Battle

Having the chairs facing us during the Battle Round was great! I'd rather be able to see facial expressions because I love when people enjoy my music. That's what fuels me and drives me. It was great to be able to sing my heart out and see if the Coaches were feeling it! I'm not going to lie though, making eye contact  with the four Coaches while I was singing was an automatic weak in the knees feeling. It was surreal to see them all sitting there listening to ME! Even now, I just can't believe how incredible this experience is, and I'll never be able to express how grateful and thankful I am to have this opportunity.

I listened to the song over and over to make sure I could get my emotions into it. I listened to each verse and devoured the meaning of it, and I wanted to go out on stage and show America how I felt about Leather and Lace. I did a few calming exercises, said a little prayer, took the microphone and went out to BATTLE! (:

I think the Battle was AMAZING! It was an awesome stage and the Coaches were all there watching and enjoying the song and that was so incredible!!!! I love the song Leather and Lace and I'm so glad I got to sing it. Adam is one smart cookie, and I'm so glad he picked that song for Tim and I to sing together! I'm so excited for our Itunes version of Leather and Lace, its going to be the BOMB! (: I put my heart and soul into the song, and I made it my own. Stevie is such an inspiration and Don Henley is mind-blowingly talented! Singing their song for the Coaches on The Voice was enough to make me cry! I still can't believe it! Somebody pinch me!

Adam PICKED ME! YAYYYYY! SO SO SO EXCITED! I think Tim and I both felt the song that night, and were both 100% invested and wanted to put on a great show, and I know we did. It could have gone either way but I'm proud of myself for letting my nerves fly away a bit more, and taking home the W! I guess it's the competitive volleyball player in me that always wants to WIN! I can't wait for the LIVE SHOWS! Here we go!
