Ryan Adams has released 13 albums over the course of his career, both as a solo artist and alongside The Cardinals. Adams' debut solo album, Heartbreaker, came out in 2000 but he didn't attain commercial success until 2001's Gold, which featured the single "New York, New York." From 2005 to 2010, Adams released music with backing band The Cardinals. He returned to solo work in 2011 with Ashes & Fire. His upcoming self-titled album will be released later this year.
