At the White House, Chief of Staff Richard Peel briefs President Martinez and General Armbruster on Thomas' takeover of Inostranka. Peel suggests that perhaps Thomas set the detainees free in order to help him with his plot of bringing more of his people to Earth. Then Peel and Armbruster reveal that Sophia is the new President, replacing the "soft" and "weak" Martinez. Suddenly Martinez wakes up; thankfully it was just a bad dream. Meanwhile in an idyllic suburban neighborhood, Thomas welcomes his followers, including the Inostranka detainees. He tells them that some will settle here, while others will be sent to work on the portal array. Thomas then tells Hanson, a mysterious man with a disfigured face, that he is counting on him.
