Liz's husband Tom was a fourth grade teacher at a public elementary school outside Washington D.C. When Liz stumbled across a secret box hidden in their apartment, she began to suspect he was more than he seemed - and she was right. Tom was a spy, inserted into her life by Reddington's rival Berlin. Tom did his best to hide the truth from his wife, but after months of cat-and-mouse, Liz confirmed her suspicion. Liz and Red captured Tom, but he escaped and went underground. At the end of Season 1, Tom resurfaced, only to be fatally shot by Liz in the final confrontation. Mysteriously, his body was never recovered by the authorities.
