I promised to start blogging the morning after each episode of Biggest Loser: Families but I've actually been in LA most of this week working on NEXT season of The Biggest Loser (more about that later...)
Sorry for the delay but I hope you enjoyed the Premiere as much as I did. We have an incredible group of contestants (again!) and I am sure you will really enjoy the upcoming weeks of the show. My plan is to blog about some food scoops that happen behind the scenes. I receive so many emails that I want to answer some of your most pressing food and nutrition questions in my blog.
One of the things I most enjoyed about this week's episode was the segment with Dr. Huizenga, the show's medical doctor. A former NFL physician, Doc H knows how the body works inside and out. Before they receive clearance to participate in the show, all contestants receive a very comprehensive medical exam from Doc H. In tonight's episode he discussed his recent findings from the Season Six contestants' medical exams. Their results in hand, he identified their "calculated biological age" vs their real ages. As an example, he told LT (Little Tom) that due to his excess weight and the fact that he was a smoker, his body is subjected to so many stressors that his calculated biological age was 49 (instead of his actual age of 23).
It was really timely since the very morning of the Premiere, a new research study was released from the University of California - San Francisco, revealing once again, that diet and exercise add years to our lives.
I will write much much more about the Biggest Loser eating plan in the upcoming weeks, but I can tell you now, The Biggest Loser eating plan not only promotes weight loss, it also slows the aging process.
