Like many moms, 43-year-old Pamela Geil has made caring for others a bigger priority than caring for herself. In her twenties, she took care of her older sister after a car accident left her paralyzed, and more recently, Pamela cared for her mother before she passed away from lung cancer. She's also a single mother of a teenage daughter, and she volunteers helping seniors in her community. Born in New York City, Pam moved to Colorado when she was eight and lived there with her parents and two siblings until moving back to New York City at age 20. She has been overweight since age 10 and thinks poor diet and no exercise were the biggest contributing factors, as well as having overweight family members. Watching her mother die at age 67 was a real turning point for Pam in deciding to reclaim her health and her life. Currently 237 pounds, she says she looks forward to "returning to my fabulous self" and can't wait to shop in regular clothing stores and feel sexy again. She also hopes to inspire her daughter to lead a healthy lifestyle.
