At 444 pounds, 34-year-old Michael Dorsey is the heaviest contestant this season and says losing weight "just seems like that impossible mountain that I cannot overcome." Michael was born and raised in Baltimore with a younger sibling, and he received a degree in communications from Cedarville University and a master of divinity from Faith Evangelical Seminary. He is almost finished with his doctorate from Faith Seminary. He began gaining weight in high school, when he says it was considered "healthy" because he was involved in athletics - football, baseball and wrestling, until injuries caused him to give up wrestling. He stopped being active as he got older and put on most of his weight after college due to poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle. Now married with an infant son, Michael suffers from sleep apnea and high cholesterol. Inspired by the "inspirational transformations" of contestants who came before him, Michael looks forward to losing weight so he can coach his son in sports, ride roller coasters at amusement parks around the country, shop at regular stores and return to competitive wrestling.
