For 51-year-old David Jones, being 307 pounds has affected his health. He's experienced sleep apnea, hypertension and asthma. It has also affected his job. Being a police officer is a physically demanding job, and David knew it was time to change his life and get healthy when he could no longer engage in a foot pursuit. David was born in Cherry Point, North Carolina and raised in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, the oldest of four boys. He was thin growing up and participated in several sports, including wrestling, baseball and volleyball. He attended Tulsa Junior College and Oklahoma Baptist University, but after he stopped playing sports, he found himself eating out more as an adult, and he started gaining weight, especially after he stopped smoking. Now a married father of seven kids, including one with special needs, and two grandchildren, David wants to get healthy so he can be there for his family and also be fit for his job so he can perform any tasks required. With several overweight family members, David hopes to help them get healthy as well. After losing the weight, David looks forward to horseback riding, bicycling, skiing, hiking and parasailing and travelling with his wife.
