Ben Shuh, as the fourth of five children, literally grew up in a fast-food family, with a father who was an executive vice president of Burger King. He was born in Dayton, Ohio and raised in Michigan, Florida, Ohio and Texas. Sports helped keep Ben in good shape through high school, where he wrestled and played football. He was a starting defensive tackle for a Texas 5A state qualifying football team, as well as a state-qualifying wrestler. He started gaining weight after high school, and the weight gain continued after a divorce in 2002. Now 34 years old and 396 pounds, Ben has been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and sleep apnea. He and his wife have nine children: four children each from their previous marriages, one child together and another on the way. So it's a struggle to find time to exercise with his work schedule and very busy home life. Ben believes he will be a better husband and father when he loses the weight and looks forward to running a 5K with his wife, shopping at regular clothing stores and playing with his kids and coaching them in sports.
