The Apprentice Show Series on NBC: In the Boardroom Blog

In the Boardroom Blog with Don Jr or Eric Trump

Pressure Is On

Hey Apprentice Fans. Hope you all enjoyed last night's episode! We began this week with Lisa bringing home a win for GMHC, a great charity that she is very passionate about. Last week was a tough week emotionally for Lisa so I think this was a much-needed boost.

My father met the teams in Trump Tower in his home, which is a rare setting for task delivery. I think the teams were in awe of the decor and the views, which are incredible. Hopefully, they soaked it all in as they would need that inspiration for the next task. My brother, Eric, and George were joined by our executives this week, Martine from Macy's and Cathy from our licensing division of the Trump Organization. The teams were tasked with creating an in-store display and presentation for Success by Trump, my father's new fragrance, launching exclusively at Macy's. The teams selected their project managers, and it was round two for Aubrey and Clay. The pressure was on not only because this was my father's fragrance but also because he upped the ante by increasing the winner's potential earnings to $100,000. However, the $100,000 would only be granted to the PM that created something that my father loved.

The teams split off and began brainstorming. It was between Clay and Penn to take on this task as PM and Penn seemed uncomfortable with the task and yet had quite a few ideas for the team. It was interesting to see that he was not confident in being PM but certainly found his voice and ideas while in the war room. It was decided early on that Dayana would be the face of the campaign, which in my opinion was a smart move. Nothing bothers me more than when the celebrities don't utilize their own talents for certain tasks.

Aubrey was feeling less than thrilled with her teammates, Arsenio and Theresa. Creatively and in the brainstorming process, Arsenio has performed quite strongly, and in the past, the two have had issues. I was looking forward to seeing how they would interact and if they would end up playing "tug of war" between concepts. As the teams get smaller and smaller, it is harder to avoid those people that you don't necessarily "mesh" with, and whether you like your teammates or not, tasks of these magnitude often require all hands on deck.

The teams both decided to incorporate a building theme which, given that we are in the real estate business, made perfect sense. Now finding the interesting and attractive twist on a display with a building/skyline theme would be the challenge. The executives reiterated that it was important to create something that was true to the Trump brand. The team came up with using Dayana in the campaign and Penn contributed the slogan, "You Earned It." Clay was hesitant to take the first idea but also felt he should manage by consensus. That to me was a slippery slope. As the project manager, you are often on the chopping block for the main theme so if you don't believe in it completely, and should you lose, it will be hard to defend yourself in the Boardroom.

Aubrey and Arsenio were having trouble reaching the same definition of success, but unlike Clay, Aubrey was not leading by consensus and was making the decisions for her team. Aubrey came up with a few ideas, one of which was, "Trust Your Instincts" a concept backed up by Arsenio when he found a video online with my father quoted saying just that. As the team arrived at the studio to begin building the set, Aubrey couldn't get rid of her team fast enough, sending both Theresa and Arsenio on a fabric run. Clearly you do not need two people to do that job but, Aubrey wanted to take this one on herself, which, if she lost, would mean that the decision could be quite clear. The team also decided to incorporate a silhouette of my brother Eric. I wasn't sure I understood where they were going with that one but was looking forward to seeing how they executed.

Over on Clay's team, Lisa and Dayana were getting along quite well, and Lisa was almost being nice, a far cry from last week's puppet show meltdown. Clay was having a tough time making a decision on certain materials and as the celebrities should know by now, there is never enough time on the clock. After selecting their hopefully winning shot of Dayana, they were off painting and building their set. Dayana suggested creating "takeaway" pieces for the display, but Clay shot down idea due to the timing restriction.

It was time for the teams' presentations, which they should be quite comfortable making this far along into the season. However, Clay seemed to have forgotten about that element. He delivered a short introduction on their display and opened the floor up a little too early for questions. The awkward presentation likely felt like hours when in reality it was only a few minutes or so. Aubrey's team had a bit more polished presentation incorporating all three team members. Theresa and Arsenio were likely thrilled about this as I am sure the expectation was that they wouldn't be involved given their assignments this week or lack thereof.

The teams arrived in the Boardroom both feeling very confident in what they had put together this week. Clay was very happy with all of his team members and Lisa went as far as to say that he is in the top 2 of the PMs she has worked with thus far on the show. Aubrey also expressed that her team was incredibly supportive and also went as far as to say "they all did the work." I was curious to see if this would change if their team lost. However, we wouldn't be able to find out as my father announced that Aubrey's team had won this task. This was a very tough call as there were so many elements that the executives and my father liked from each team. Essentially, if you could blend the two concepts, I believe they could have had something incredible.

There was really no loser this week. Well... one person would be fired, but my father did generously give $10,000 to each of the celebrities as he thought they all did a great job, and then gave $40,000 to the winning PM. The winning team exited the Boardroom and that meant that Clay, Lisa, Penn and Dayana (for the sixth time!) would be left to battle it out.

It was a very tough decision and one that I did not envy my father making. The executives hated the slogan that Penn came up with. They felt that it was pompous and not in line with the brand messaging. Ultimately Penn was fired given that this was the element that was most disliked by the executives and really a detriment to their task. Clay was not off the hook this week and I hope that he learned a valuable lesson about leading by consensus and not taking the reins as project manager.

I hope you all enjoyed this week's Celebrity Apprentice! Looking forward to next week already, which looks like it will be a tough week for Dayana. It seems she will not only drive Lisa to explode yet again but also Clay this time! Hope you will tune in with me live on Twitter www.twitter.com/donaldjtrumpjr

110% just isn't enough this week

Hey Apprentice fans! I hope you all enjoyed Sunday's episode. This week started with a particularly interesting performance by Arsenio, who, normally quite calm, was flying off the handle and enraged by his issues with Aubrey. The drama continued between Lisa and Dayana... and quite frankly, I was concerned with Lisa and Dayana being in the same room. Lisa continued by beating down Arsenio for his comments about Aubrey. Given these explosive dynamics, I was very much looking forward to the task ahead, which was for Entertainment.com... quite fitting!

This week, the teams were tasked with creating a 60-second commercial for Entertainment.com. As we delivered the task to the teams, Dayana stepped up rather quickly without consulting with her team, causing one of probably a hundred eye rolls from Lisa. On the other team, Teresa quickly volunteered to lead Aubrey, Clay, Arsenio and Paul Sr. Given the drama last week, I was hoping that Teresa could maintain control and bring home a win considering her first loss as PM was by $14 dollars.

The teams split up, and Lisa was less than thrilled to be "stuck" with Lou and Dayana. However, as the day went on, once they formalized their concept, Dayana and Lisa seemed to be working well together. Perhaps it took Dayana stepping up as PM to control the situation and hopefully earn her keep for another week in the Boardroom. Over on Team Unanimous, Paul Sr. stepped into a new role, losing his cut off T-shirt and jeans and adding a nice pullover sweater. I thought it was pretty clever to utilize the talent that they had available, and it seemed that the team was getting along well. Their concept however pushed the envelope, which concerned Teresa, but they went ahead with it anyways. If that is a criticism from the executives, then Teresa's head may very well be on the chopping block.

Team Forte's concept was going well, and they seemed to all - shockingly - be enjoying themselves! Lou however did feel hurt that his ideas were not being utilized, although it looked to me that he may have been trying to compensate for his lack of computer skills. Dayana put him to work on banners, but he did not know how to execute, contributing very little to the team. It seemed that Dayana was in control, but the major elements were driven by her much more outspoken teammates, Lisa and Penn. Interesting tactic and I was curious to see how it all would unfold in the Boardroom. Lisa's opinion of Lou was further solidified on this task, and I knew that she would have a lot to say to my father when asked how he performed on this task.

As Teresa and her team headed to the editing room, I was concerned about their timing. As usual, the clock was getting the best of them, and I truthfully didn't think they would have time to finish. They finally were able to put something together though that looked great. Aubrey voiced a few very large edits that, from a timing perspective, could not be made. Clay was thinking that this could have been another strategy for the Boardroom. As every season goes by, it's interesting to watch the moves that are made as the competition gets tougher. All of the team members are constantly analyzing each other's every move and strategizing as to how to avoid those two words in the Boardroom.

The teams made their presentations, and I thought both did a great job. They were different types of commercials but both were entertaining. It was time for the Boardroom where Ivanka and I would deliver the ultimate feedback from the executives.

We began the Boardroom this week with my father asking Dayana if she had a weak player, and she ultimately responded that it would be Lou, a common thread for the past couple of tasks, aside from Week 5 when he danced his way into a win. There was a lot of tension between Lou and Lisa, Lou threatening that if Lisa was a man he would have thrown her through the wall for calling him a loser. Not a great look on either side. Lisa however did change her opinion of Dayana and almost... complimented her? A far cry from earlier tasks.

Over on Team Forte, it was much more peaceful than last week, and they all seemed to get along, not calling out any particular team member for not stepping up. We showed off the teams' videos and discussed why Dayana didn't put herself in the video. Lou chimed in that he suggested it, with Lisa firing back that he only speaks up while in the Boardroom. From that moment on, I knew that Lisa had it out for Lou during this Boardroom and would not let him get away with any notion that he put in his standard "110%" for this task.

When we asked the teams who they thought had the better commercial, generally out of hard work and pride the teams almost always choose their own commercial or work. Well, not this week. Lou actually stated that he liked Teresa's commercial better. I knew that we would certainly be discussing this in further detail if Dayana's team lost. We delivered the results, and ultimately the judges felt that Team Forte, led by Teresa, had a better commercial. It was a great win for Teresa and the NephCure Foundation, an incredible cause. My father excused Team Forte from the Boardroom and it was time for Lou, Dayana, Lisa and Penn to battle it out.

Considering that Penn had to leave during the task for a prior commitment, Dayana did not feel that he should have to stay in the Boardroom. So he was safe and headed back to the war rooms. Between Dayana, Lou and Lisa it was a tough choice. Dayana was the PM, and when you lose the task as a PM, much of the burden falls on your shoulders. However, Lisa being very vocal and constantly controlling the creative process could make her at fault this week. Overall though, it was clear that Lou did not contribute very much, and his comment about preferring the other team's commercial showed huge disloyalty. Each week, Lou prides himself on being a team player and yet this week he displayed just the opposite. Growing up, my father emphasized loyalty as being immensely important, and especially in our company, that is something we will never waver on. I think Lou is a great guy with a lot of fight, but unfortunately this week he showed a side which would not take him on to the next week.

I hope you all enjoyed this week's episode. Looking forward to next week already; the competition gets even tougher, and the celebrities left will continue to fight tooth and nail to be the next Celebrity Apprentice. 110%

Hey Apprentice fans! Hope you all enjoyed Sunday's all-new Celebrity Apprentice. The ladies were on a bit of a winning streak and brought home a win last week for Debbie Gibson's charity, Children International. The men had a tough Boardroom last week losing both Adam and Michael. Being down two players and given their general feelings towards Lou, I was curious to see how they would fare this week.

This week the teams were tasked with creating a viral video for O-Cedar's new product, the ProMist Spray Mop. O-Cedar has been in the cleaning business for over 100 years, so they clearly know their product and their audience very well. The teams would be judged on product integration, brand messaging and entertainment value. Immediately following a "trick" question to Dayana, it was time to choose the project managers. This week Lou and Tia stepped up. I was happy with the team's choices as I think last week both Tia and Lou felt that they had some proving to do. Not only last week but also in previous tasks, I felt that Lou always seems to want the ball but never actually stepped up. This week will be very important for both Lou and Tia.

As the teams split up, Dayana was desperately trying to give her ideas, which seemed to be shot down quite quickly. Now whether they were necessarily great ideas or not, the claws were definitely out early on the women's side... The executives visited Team Forte first and immediately mentioned that the viral video should be sexy and shared their last campaign, which definitely pushed the envelope. Upon meeting further, the women decided upon, "What's Your Number?" as the theme. It definitely had sex appeal. How they presented it to the judges using their criteria would be another thing.

While the men were brainstorming there seemed to be a superhero theme in all of their ideas... go figure, with The Hulk as the PM! While they seemed to be all working together well, Penn continuously seemed to chime in about the negative elements or reasons why a particular idea wouldn't work. From a business perspective and from working in groups, I am sure that many of you have been in a room with this type of attitude, so I understood Clay's frustration. At one point Clay burst out mentioning that he felt that people were setting Lou up to fail. I hadn't seen this side of Clay and was impressed; he was a lot tougher than I would have thought! After Clay expressed his issues - I am sure that Lou felt relieved - they came up with a tagline, thanks to Paul Sr.: "I'll mop the floor with you." I think given the Hulk and the rest of the team members, I was thinking it could be very entertaining if executed properly.

As the women were filming their viral video it seemed like a lot of the team was sitting around, and with a task this size with a time crunch, I don't see that as a great sign. Additionally, Dayana whispered to Debbie that there was no mop in the frame of the video. I think Dayana's point was very valid and perhaps she should have voiced it sooner. I think if the product integration is not a point they hit during their video then it will certainly be a topic of discussion in the Boardroom.

Whoever thought that the Hulk was only capable of crushing things... think again! Lou showed off some serious dance moves on this task, which was a new side to him and also extremely entertaining!

It was time for the presentations, and overall they were both extremely entertaining. The women utilized the star power on their team incorporating almost all of the ladies in their video. The men chose to focus on Lou in the video and a spokeswoman to address the components of the product. It was time for the Boardroom to see if the women's number game or Lou's dance moves won over the judges.

My father began on the men's side in the Boardroom asking Lou how he thought their team did on the task. Lou was very confident and felt he gave 110%, and while I feel like I have heard that before, I do think Lou did a great job and it was evident from the kudos he received from his team members. Paul Sr. even said that he felt Lou was the star of this task, and Clay felt that he is the most committed person to the task. I think that commitment is a key element especially on this show. If you slip up or lose sight even for one task you could potentially lose your shot all together.

Over on the women's side they initially began with that same positive energy, and Tia named Lisa as the "star" of their task... although after Lisa's reply, I was thinking Tia may have wished she didn't say Lisa. Lisa explained that she felt that Tia never had her arms around the task. She went on to explain that in every task the three most creative people take on the most work, that being herself, Aubrey and Debbie. For three out of the seven women on the team to apparently be doing most of the tasks is not a great sign for their ability to work together and utilize their collective talents. As the conversation continued, you could tell that there was great frustration on both sides.

As the conversation continued, each celebrity began to voice who they felt was the weak link. Dee was asked who contributed the least and responded that he felt it was Paul Sr. on this task, and Paul seemed to accept that. However, I reminded both Dee and Paul that he came up with the concept; so to me, that was a huge contribution, and Dee had to admit that was true.

My brother Eric and I took the teams through the executive's feedback. On the ladies' video, the executives felt that they nailed it on entertainment and the brand, but their concept overall was confusing. They also felt that they focused too much on the presentation and not enough on the viral video. The men's team received a great review from the executives as they loved Lou as a housewife, and they thought the concept was very clear. They did however feel that it lacked the viral video element, which was a negative.

In the end, Lou brought home his first win of the season, proving that he did actually give 110% and it paid off! I was very happy for Lou, as I felt he really needed this one. The men headed to celebrate, and the women were left to battle it out... and that is what they certainly did.

From the very beginning of this Boardroom, there were many issues being laid out on the table. Creative people versus "worker bees" and disagreements over the concept and how the PM led the team. Harsh statements were flying back and forth and finally it was time for Tia to decide the two people she would bring back in to the Boardroom. As soon as Tia began questioning bringing two people back in I knew her fate. She decided to take the bullet for her team as the PM, feeling that it would be unfair to fire someone else. We respected Tia for accepting the responsibility but also felt that she could have shown more fight and stayed in the game.

I hope you enjoyed Sunday's episode and will join me again next week for another explosive Boardroom. Follow me live on Twitter on www.twitter.com/donaldjtrumpjr during the episode!

Two down...

Hi Everyone. Hope you all enjoyed Sunday night's episode. This week was particularly exciting because we not only had drama between the teams and product launches filled with comedy scenes but also two firings, which always shakes things up a bit!

We began this week watching the teams back in the war rooms after another rough Boardroom. It was the men's first time in the Boardroom, and they didn't take it well. Arsenio went as far to say that other than dying he couldn't think of anything worse! That's pretty extreme but being able to sit across from the teams each week I could see that sometimes it's more than tough...

Dayana had a great week on the last task and was able to bring home $20,000 for her charity, the Latino Commission on AIDS. She was so emotional and watching her with the charity reaffirms all of the great work that is accomplished through this show. It's incredible and we congratulate Dayana on a nice win last week but... it was back to business, and for all of those who thought the women had the advantage on the fashion task (which I am not sure I agree with!), the tables are turned as it was time for their next challenge using the all new Buick Verano.

We met the teams in the heart of NYC right by Central Park and presented them with their task of creating a 10-minute consumer launch presentation and 10 minute live Q&A for the Buick Verano. As the teams quickly decided who would be the PM, we all thought it was a no-brainer for Michael Andretti to take this one. However, it seemed Adam wanted to step up, and Michael almost pushed for him to take it. An odd situation and one that I knew we would certainly discuss in further details back at the Boardroom. However, I was looking forward to seeing Adam step up and knew that whatever he did would be sure to provide a few laughs. On the ladies' team, Debbie volunteered and seemed enthusiastic about the challenge.

As the teams split off, the executives met with the women and relayed a few important elements for their brand. A thoughtful take on luxury and thoughtful design were communicated as well as key points that included the importance of safety, space and sound. Lisa thought of a "spokesperson" concept to engage with the audience, which Debbie really liked. It seemed to be a collaborative discussion at first, although that quickly changed as the women drove off in separate vans. Debbie did not communicate with Tia, Dayana and Teresa, leaving them very much out of the loop. Never a good thing, as the people you leave feeling alienated are not usually your advocates in the Boardroom.

On the men's side, the team was getting frustrated with Lou, mentioning that Lou only cares about his role in the task, never looking at the bigger picture. Adam, as the PM, was set on exactly what he wanted, leaving no room for discussion on the team. While I thought the theme of having "hecklers" in the audience could be funny, it could also push the envelope too far. Given the pillars of the Buick brand and what the executives communicated, I wasn't sure how well it would go over.

I stopped by to see Team Forte, and they seemed to be behind schedule with a lot to do and very little time. Debbie was hoping for a good night's sleep to bring her task to life. I think it could use a little more than a good night's sleep but was looking forward to seeing what they put together.

The following day was go time for the groups, and the ladies were up first. I thought their concept was interesting, and they did a good job. I liked that they incorporated almost all of their team members and the important parts of the Buick brand. However, they did not impress the executives when they mispronounced Verano as "Verona" twice in their presentation. Also, Teresa's hot pink and leopard joke at the end didn't fare well. The men's team kicked off a little slow as Adam admitted to the audience he was nervous. For someone who does stand-up for a living I was a little surprised, but The Celebrity Apprentice does bring out a new side to all our players. I think they did a good job in the beginning sharing the technical aspects of the car to the audience, and putting Penn in the trunk was funny and interesting, still showing the amount of space available in the Verano. However, the executives were disappointed with the team's failure to use Michael Andretti more extensively given his background and recognizable name. Paul and Lou's bit was also not very well received as it left the room with a bit of an awkward silence.

It was time for the Boardroom. As predicted, Michael not stepping up as the PM was a huge part of the conversation. Lou also, for the fourth week in a row, shared that he felt he wasn't being utilized. It seems to now be a reoccurring theme, which makes me wonder if Lou is not stepping up enough and trying to take the reins instead of complaining about it. As we discussed how the teams thought they did, Penn expressed some concern about the way that their presentation played out. The only one who strongly disagreed with Penn was Adam and that was evident. On the ladies' side of the table, Teresa was less than complimentary about Debbie's performance as the PM. Teresa and Tia both felt out of the loop, and Debbie fired back that Teresa doesn't "own who she is" and that she hesitates a lot. Teresa disagreed but didn't necessarily back up her argument. I have seen Teresa be very strong and opinionated, so I was surprised when she didn't put up much of a fight. I am hoping that Teresa will be able to defend herself, or the Boardrooms may get even tougher for her.

Overall the executives thought the women did a better job on this task and communicated Buick's four important points much stronger than the men's team. Adam strongly felt that they did a great job and that the wrong decision was made. Regardless, Adam then made a much worse decision by deciding not to bring two people back into the Boardroom with him. Note to the rest of the group: lesson learned! Adam was fired as the concept was his and as PM he had to take the bullet for this. He didn't seem to protest, so I think my father made the right decision. The rest of the men were left in the Boardroom, and it was not over yet; another person would be fired.

The decision seemed to come down to Michael or Lou. Most of the team felt that Lou did not offer anything aside from his muscles and consistently felt underutilized and yet the team felt he didn't have a broad enough skill set. As we noticed from the get-go, Michael not stepping up as PM was a huge mistake. His experience, knowledge of cars and brand name seemed to confuse us all as to why he didn't take advantage of those advances. If this task wasn't right for him, I am not sure any task would be, so my father made the decision to fire Michael. We wish him the best of luck and felt that both Michael and Adam were great guys, but the right choices were made this week.

I hope you all enjoyed this week's Celebrity Apprentice. Two down this week and many more exciting Boardrooms and tasks ahead! Follow me on Twitter www.twitter.com/donaldjtrumpjr and on Facebook www.facebook.com/donaldjtrumpjr for more insight on the tasks, exclusive photos and quotes of the week!

Week 3

Hey Apprentice Fans! Hope you all had a great weekend. This task was a lot of fun to watch and I particularly felt for the men's team as designing window displays, aside from the construction aspect, I knew would be challenging...

We met the teams in the lobby of Trump Tower in front of my sister Ivanka's jewelry store. My brother Eric joined me as an advisor as Ivanka stepped in to the role of the business executive this week for the task. The teams were charged with creating live window displays for Lord & Taylor on Fifth Avenue using Ivanka's collections of clothing, shoes, handbags and coats. Choosing a PM this week was interesting as there were two candidates who wanted to step up for the women. As many times as Theresa said she had a background in fashion, it was clear that Dayana felt strongly that she wanted to take the lead on this one. I think she was getting tired of being one of the last in the Boardroom and wanted to prove herself. Despite the teams wanting to elect Clay as PM, George volunteered and was looking forward to raising awareness and hopefully money for a charity that is very close to him.

The teams raced off to begin brainstorming for their task and had the ability to meet with Ivanka and Scott Devine, of Lord & Taylor. I thought they asked great questions and hopefully were able to soak up the points that were most important for Ivanka's brand. I find that the executive meetings are always incredibly important and at times underutilized. I think the women were able to solidify their concept almost instantly after Ivanka and Scott left the room. The women's concept was "every woman" with "timeless style" which was a key element that Ivanka mentioned. The men decided on a day to night theme, also very clever and in line with the brand as Ivanka spoke about how her collections take women from day to night.

The teams split up, some going to build the actual displays and others to select the clothing for the windows. While I do think I am quite a fashionable guy, (I know this because many of you tweet to me compliments each week about my suit selections), I know that I would certainly have preferred to be with Paul Sr. on the construction side. I liked how Paul was able to utilize his resources and talents. He called his team at his shop and had incredibly large Ivanka Trump signs made for the windows. Not only a great idea but extremely important for this task. The rest of the teams were over at Ivanka's showrooms shopping for their windows. I thought it was pretty funny which of the men stepped up and spearheaded the selections. Arsenio really led the men down this fashion path, handpicking the clothing, shoes, bags and coats. The ladies seemed to have a little bit more of a collaborative effort working together to pull many of the outfits with Dayana and Theresa spearheading the process.

While all of the teams were either pulling clothes or building sets, Dee Snyder was at the hospital getting surgery on his hand. The incident on the horse last week was a bit more intensive than initially thought. We really respected Dee's commitment to finish out the task even with his injury. In true fashion, Dee left surgery, grabbed his leather jacket and headed over to Lord & Taylor to support his team. As someone who has broken almost every bone, I know Dee likely was in a lot of pain, so I admire his commitment to the team.

As with almost every task and every season, traffic gets the best of all our celebrities. In my opinion, you would you think they would learn to add that into travel time... although again, NYC traffic is pretty unpredictable. Lisa and a few of the ladies were very late arriving to Lord & Taylor. It always adds another level of pressure. In watching the task again, I was feeling a bit concerned that they wouldn't get everything done; but in the end they pulled it together and it was show time on Fifth Avenue.

Ivanka and Scott arrived at the unveiling and started with the men's team. I immediately recognized Paul's great signage, which was really well done. I liked their concept of night and day but their nighttime backdrop really didn't stand out, and their outfit selections were not red carpet. Using twin models was also a very cool concept that I thought added another interesting layer to their window. George was a little shaky on the presentation side, but all in all, they did a good job. The women's team had a lot of enthusiasm, and you could tell that they were very proud of what they had pulled together. Even through the window that Dayana, the women's PM, was starring in, she was smiling the whole time, adding a layer of fun and confidence to their display. They all were wearing the outfits in the presentation, which also was a nice touch. The men unfortunately couldn't use that card, although if Dee was up to it we all know he may have been able to step in!

It was time for the Boardroom, and each week it truly does get tougher and tougher. The celebrities become more competitive, and nothing is off limits. Overall, it was pretty clear that the women did a much better job than the men and although they did have some criticisms - one being that the border the women put together covered their feet, which was not great for Ivanka's shoe business. Ultimately, despite that small hiccup, the women were able to bring home their first win. They happily left the Boardroom and were able to breathe a sigh of relief, something they weren't very familiar with.

As the men were left to battle it out, there were a few key elements that led to their loss. One was that the outfit selections didn't fit the themes, and the other was that they did not build windows that stood out, especially with a dark navy backdrop and Arsenio in a black suit in the window. When Eric visited the men's team, he had the ability to talk to Clay offline, and through that conversation it was clear that the men felt George was a little bit "all over the place" as a leader. I think he did not have a great handle on the task, and despite the selections for the windows, it was not the only reason they lost. I think George could have led his team a little bit tighter. In any business, organization and the ability to delegate effectively (key word being effectively) is extremely crucial. We have great respect for a wonderful and loyal guy, but George was fired.

I hope that you all enjoyed this task. I am looking forward to seeing you next week in the Boardroom where two people will be fired! I love reading your feedback via my Twitter @donaldjtrumpjr and on my Facebook page www.facebook.com/donaldjtrumpjr. See you next week!

Mid-Evil Showtime

Hey Apprentice fans! Hope you all had a great weekend. This week's episode started off with all of the "safe" team members back in the war rooms. After saying goodbye to Cheryl, Victoria returned from Boardroom fired up and on the defensive. From the way she reacted after the first Boardroom, I knew that this second task would be drama filled on the ladies' side. Joined by the great James Lipton as an advisor, this week the teams were tasked with creating a 12 to 15 minute show at Medieval Times. Little did we know there would be many more battles than those fought at Medieval Times.

Penn and Lisa, given their extensive experience in show business, decided to step up and be the project managers. As the teams set off to begin planning for their tasks, it was clear that Lisa was running a tight ship. She wanted no interruptions, literally, and certainly wasn't vying for most popular PM but rather was focused on being a winning PM. The ladies settled on a Housewives of NJ theme, adding "Snooki" and my father to the mix. Given that Teresa, the star of Real Housewives of New Jersey, was on their team and the event was actually taking place in New Jersey, I thought it was a clever and fun concept. Lisa delegated parts for the show, and all of the ladies received an onstage part except for Victoria. Lisa appointed Victoria to stage director because she thought her no-nonsense attitude would be able to get one of the most important jobs done. Victoria did not take well to being behind the scenes, and that was just the start of the issues between Victoria and Lisa.

The men's team had quite the opposite feeling than the women's. They were busy playing dress up (some more than others), breaking bones, practicing their fight scenes and not worrying about who would be in the spotlight. With The Hulk on the team and Twisted Sister front man Dee Snyder, they were confident that they had a funny and action packed concept that would win over the crowd. Paul brought their props to a new level when a medieval-themed chopper was dropped off.

Back on the women's team, the more times that Lisa told Victoria that she had the most important role, the more times Victoria felt that she was stuffed in the closet. Victoria did not add very much on the first day except uncertainty that she couldn't do the task she was assigned, nor did she want to. Tensions also rose between Lisa and Dayana as Dayana felt she was not given any real assignment besides shopping and being "Lady Godiva." I think that while Lisa felt Dayana should "sit and look pretty," which as a model she obviously does well, I think they may be underestimating Dayana's abilities.

As the teams were rehearsing for their performance, Dee unfortunately broke his finger pretty badly. I admired that he put the pain aside and said he would deal with it later. I think it showed that he is a great team player, and plus who else would have played the woman in their show?!

It was show time at Mid-Evil Times (as Victoria likes to spell it) and the men were up first. The men's team commanded a lot of energy, and with Penn and Arsenio running the show, you know it had to be entertaining. And although in rehearsals the team was concerned about George's ability to very importantly follow the script, he, as a true great actor, did just that. Their entertaining performance was almost sealed with a kiss between Lou and "Lady Dee Dee" but the manly man on the team couldn't bring himself to go there.

The housewives took the stage and their entrance was not quite as smooth as the men's team. Still, they ended up putting together a great show. The women were hilarious and, aside from their battles, pulled out traditional New Jersey Real Housewives moves such as flipping tables. Lisa had a personal goal for this show, which was to deliver a clean and funny show. With the "gymnastics" moves and action scenes the ladies performed, I am not sure she met her "clean" goal 100%, but we will give her an A for effort.

Both teams put on great shows. but it was up to the audience; and ultimately one person's fate would be decided by my father back in the Boardroom. As we began the Boardroom, my father was very quickly able to recognize the tension between Victoria and Lisa. When Victoria was asked about Lisa as a PM, she wasn't quick to give her a great endorsement, first saying that she was very strict. She couldn't articulate her issues very well at first, but I knew it was only a matter of time before their real feelings would come out.

On Team Unanimous, they all felt that Penn was a great leader. My father began by asking Penn a difficult question as to whom he would bring back if he had to choose. The hypothetical questions are always tough, but as someone vying to be the next Celebrity Apprentice, it is always wise to answer the question. Penn responded with great respect and said that if he had to, he would bring Lou and George back. Lou was very visibility hurt by this and took it very personally. I admire the way that Penn approached this difficult question and only hoped that Lou would understand. For Lisa, it seemed to be a much different decision. When my father asked whom she would bring back, she immediately said Victoria. Lisa felt Victoria let her emotions get in the way of getting her job done.

As we delivered the results, it was clear that if the women were left in the Boardroom, it would not be a pretty battle. Both teams did very well, but the men were able to bring in 558 votes while the women received 363 votes. As the men's team went back to their war room, they had to hold off on the celebrating until Lou and Penn cleared the air. Penn apologized, and all was forgiven. I wonder if the women's team was in that same position, would all be forgiven as quickly?

Back in the Boardroom, Lisa immediately reiterated that it was not the concept that made their team loose. I think she wanted to make sure that point was heard, as she knew being the PM her head was very much on the chopping block. After the ladies battled, Lisa chose to bring back Victoria and Dayana to stay in the Boardroom. Lisa was upset that she gave Victoria one of the most important jobs, and she threatened to walk out. Victoria's rebuttal was that she felt she would be better served to play for the men's team. Lisa who is always hilarious and raw let out her emotional side in the Boardroom, exuding great passion and fight to stay in the game. While we have great respect for Victoria, during this task she was late with the lighting and sounds cues for the women's teams' entrance and she also thought about quitting. Even thinking about it made my father question her dedication to being there. There are so many people that are fighting tooth and nail to win, so even thinking about quitting just shows that Victoria may not have been up for this challenge.

As you saw on this week's episode, the Boardrooms are tougher than ever as is the competition. The Sandwich Game

Hey everyone! Welcome back to another season of The Celebrity Apprentice. This year we have more celebrities than ever and you know that means... more firings, more Boardrooms, more drama and, most importantly, more incredible charities to raise money for! We have an amazing lineup with names such as Lou Ferrigno, Adam Carolla, Paul Teutul Sr., Victoria Gotti, Dee Snyder and Lisa Lampanelli. From comedians, actors, and housewives to singers and models the cast this season came with their game faces on ready to work for their charity and trying their hardest to avoid hearing my father's famous words.

I always find the dynamics of the first episode so interesting. Everyone is getting to know one another and you almost believe the group is one big happy family. But as an avid fan you know that it quickly becomes quite the opposite... Coming into this season, we find out instantly that no one wants to mess with Victoria. I personally loved when they switched to the mob music for Victoria's intro... much more appropriate. After meeting with my father, the teams split off to their war rooms to choose a team name and project manager. The frat boys came up with some "creative" choices, and I sort of hoped that they would choose one of Adam's suggested names just so we could all hear the explanation to my father. I didn't think the "Honey Badgers" was all that bad... They ended up with "Unanimous" and then moved on to the harder decision: who would be the first PM. Unlike the women's team, no one on the men's side was quick to jump up and volunteer. After a challenge from Adam, Paul Sr. stepped up. I liked that Paul confidently took the lead on this task. Over on Team Forte, the choice for PM was simple. Patricia was focused and was determined to take on the first task.

The teams made their way to the Boardroom and soon after would be making their way to the kitchens at Cafe Metro to make sandwiches. While the teams were in their planning phases, Paul Sr. nonchalantly brought up that he would be able to bring in a half a million dollars for this task. I love the confidence but don't necessarily think it was the best idea to announce numbers so early on in the game. By doing so, I think the rest of his team felt it was not as crucial to bring in their big money donors. For example, Clay then announced he would save his "big guns" for another task. While the men's team was coming up with their concept, Penn pointed out the importance of branding and urged the team to remain focused on the Orange County Chopper theme with Paul Sr. being their PM. I liked Penn's ability to recognize the importance of branding and cohesive messaging.

Forte put together a red carpet theme, and while I think it worked very well, I wasn't surprised, as this theme is used at least once every season in some capacity. As the teams were planning their sandwich strategy all were very focused on entertainment and who would be out front with the customers. I think Victoria brought up a very good point in asking who would be making the sandwiches. With groups filled with actors, comedians, athletes and models it's easy to put together a great "face" for your event, but I think the teams often forget that the behind-the-scenes preparation is as important, if not more important, a consideration. Early on you almost always see this struggle of who is a bigger celebrity or name. The women's group was no exception.

Overall I think the teams worked very well together. I was surprised that as PM, Patricia wasn't more concerned with Victoria's tardiness, but she did however do a great job empowering her team and conveying her passion for her charity. By doing this, I think she propelled her group to bring in some great donors and friends. On the men's team, Clay did a great job of upselling their customers and through that was able to bring in a great deal of money. Paul, who may be a bit "rough around the edges" as my sister Ivanka said, had tremendous support from friends and I think with his no nonsense attitude was able to lead the frat boys very strongly.

It was time for the first Boardroom. Sitting across from the largest group we have had to date, I think the tension and nervousness was certainly apparent. At the same time, there was huge confidence in the room. Both teams really felt as though they had brought this one home. I love when we see that forcefulness in the Boardroom, and although people don't often say it, you can almost always tell when a PM or team feels that they haven't performed well or that their head is about to be on the chopping block. This was quite the contrary in our first firing session. Patricia and Paul both were confident that they had won. As we know, it's all a numbers game and in our first fundraising task, Paul Sr. with his "Chopper" themed sandwiches was the winner. The money went to an incredible cause, the Make-A-Wish Foundation. And although Patricia was not able to win this time for her charity, The Wayuu Taya Foundation, a charity very close to her heart, she was able to bring tremendous awareness to it, which is invaluable.

The men left the ladies to battle it out, but there really was no huge brawl to be had. Instead, Patricia's choices to bring two ladies back in were quite simple, Victoria for her lack of focus during the actual task and Cheryl who was not working at the same fast pace as the other women. When we sat across from all three ladies it was clear that my father made the right choice in firing Cheryl. She was a great icon and businesswoman, but she didn't seem to have the same fight and fire as the other celebrities. In my opinion, this was the right decision, as she would not have lasted very long given the nature of what lies ahead!

I hope that you enjoyed our first episode; between the personalities and creative tasks, I don't think we have seen anything like this season in Celebrity Apprentice history. I will be tweeting live each week www.twitter.com/donaldjtrumpjr and posting exclusive photos on my Facebook page www.facebook.com/donaldjtrumpjr so please send over your comments and thoughts. I am looking forward to next week already!

The Finale: Behind the Scenes

Hey Apprentice Fans! I hope you all enjoyed our Live Finale on Sunday night. It has been such an amazing season filled with a lot of drama and, most importantly, a lot of money raised for some incredible charities. Thank you to all those who have been tweeting and posting on the blog with me throughout the season; I have enjoyed hearing your feedback during every episode. In this week's blog, I've tried to address many of the questions that you sent in via my twitter page. Keep them coming and I am looking forward to next year!

Sunday night was particularly exciting because we not only had Marlee Matlin and John Rich going head to head to become the next Celebrity Apprentice and win $250,000 for their charities, but also we had all of the celebrities from the season back together on one stage. Obviously, throughout the season certain personalities clashed. We all remember the "Casper the Ghost" incident between La Toya and NeNe and the explosion over paint supplies between Meat Loaf and Gary. There weren't any two people though that had more issues throughout the course of the show then NeNe and Star. Backstage it was very tense. Our production team frankly was worried about NeNe and Star being in such close proximity to one another. The last time they saw each other was a task delivery when they verbally attacked each other and NeNe packed her bags. I think the ladies intentionally stayed away from each other backstage and of course let it out once my father asked them a question on stage. If the show wasn't two hours, I am sure they could have gone back and forth for much longer. I think it's clear that NeNe and Star won't be hanging out anytime soon...

The atmosphere of the finale was a lot of fun; after all, how can you go wrong with the '70s and '80s?! It was a tough choice but I think the '80s was my favorite. From a marketing standpoint their 7UP can grabbed me, as it was a little bit more "in your face." With that said, I think that the disco theme was very appropriate and well done. In terms of the event and their final tasks, I think both did a terrific job. I really enjoyed the Globetrotters' event and it was a great experience for my kids. I have to say though that I am a product of the '80s. John's event brought me back to my high school and college days of listening to Def Leppard. John did have a mishap occur during his event but I thought he did a great job stepping in, and although the concert didn't go as planned, John turned it into a two-for-one. Getting to see John Rich and Def Leppard perform at the same event was pretty cool.

I've been asked quite a bit about what my favorite moment of the finale was. I think that Gary Busey's kite rant was pretty hysterical. No matter how many times he tries, I just don't think we will ever understand where he was going with that one. You should have seen the random things he was blurting out during the commercial break. Although, if I had to pick one, my favorite moment of the night was when John came out on stage with a cowboy hat for my father. It was sort of an awkward moment, leaving us all wondering "will he or won't he put the hat on?" I think it was a ridiculous but interesting turning point in the night when he finally put the hat on. I am sure John felt a huge victory for that one. That would be one of two victories John had for the night... his next being announced as the new Celebrity Apprentice!

The decision my father had to make was very tough. Both Marlee and John did an incredible job throughout the season. I know many of you have wondered what my father meant when he said he was going to do something differently. What he meant by that was, normally in the finale episode, he "hires" AND "fires." This time he only announced the hire. I think it would have been difficult to fire Marlee, as we have the utmost respect and appreciation for her hard work throughout the season.

This season we had a very strong and passionate group. Throughout the run of The Celebrity Apprentice, I continue to make some great friends. I'm often asked if I would be friends with certain people had they not been on the show. I can say that I've enjoyed meeting each and every one of them. It's amazing because you often discover the celebrities' many talents outside of their known or chosen area of expertise. This season I've become friends with John, Lil Jon and Meat Loaf. I've been friends with Star for a while as well. A few weeks back, I had dinner with Marlee, Jack, John, Star and Meat Loaf. We had a blast. It was great hanging out with them outside the Boardroom. Overall, it was a pleasure to meet and work with all of the members of the original Team Backbone and Team A.S.A.P.

People always ask, "If you could choose the celebrities for next season who would they be?" I think that this is a difficult question because it's not just about the individual but rather the team dynamics. Who creates the craziness or the conflict? How well will the team function - or not function? Those are all huge factors in making a successful show. This season was all of the above: fun, crazy, dramatic and, most of all, record-breaking. This season more money was raised for charity than in the entire history of Celebrity Apprentice!! Watch out next season's cast... you have big shoes to fill.

Thank you again for watching with me and sharing all of your great insights. Looking forward to next season already!

Pre-Finale: Hollywood vs. Nashville

Hey Apprentice Fans! Hope you have enjoyed watching our finale episode. We have two record-breaking players going head to head to be the next Celebrity Apprentice and bring home $250,000 for their charities, The Starkey Hearing Foundation and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which are both incredible causes. We picked up this week with the teams working hard to get ready for their star-studded events. They were close to the finish line but had a lot to do before giving their final presentation to us.

Last week Marlee hit a roadblock and wasn't sure if Jeffrey Holder would be able to participate in their commercial. He was a huge component and there was no Plan B if he couldn't attend. If I were Marlee, I certainly would have been working on a backup plan. Thankfully, after working the phones for two hours, Meat Loaf received word that Jeffrey would be able to make it - huge sigh of relief for Marlee.

John Rich went to meet with Def Leppard and discuss the logistics for the show that evening. Immediately when John met with the group he explained the charity he was playing for, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He relayed his passion for the charity and brought it back to the kids. I think this was such a smart move on John's part. He wanted to show Def Leppard the depth and impact that their performance would have and how badly he wanted to win this. Throughout the season, this has been something I've admired about John. In most of the situations he's come up against, he has been able to always remind himself it's for the kids. I think that's one of the reasons why he is in the Final Two. While setting up, John received a nice $25,000 boost from his friends at the Melting Pot. That had to be great for team morale!

On the morning of the event, Marlee and her team showed up at the basketball courts and had to get to work. Initially, Marlee's team felt like there was no direction or delegation. I have seen this happen as the task gets so big that the leader needs to take a step back and get a game plan together. I was happy to see that Marlee did in fact step up and put her team to work. When the Globetrotters arrived, I loved how they said, "We'll take care of your charity." Marlee also said that the charity is what keeps her going. It was clear through her passion and energy that she also came to The Celebrity Apprentice to try to win for the Starkey Hearing Foundation.

It was time to hit the courts as Marlee's was the first event that we attended. I agreed with the executives that having Marlee and her team greet us upon entering the court was an important touch. It was a smart move because, as a leader, you can guide the executives on the experience, your way. You can be sure to lead them through your event, being sure to share all of the details that you had just worked so hard on. Overall, Marlee's event went off without a hitch. It was very organized and she put on a really exciting show. From her stage presence to the commercial and the Globetrotters, it all went extremely smoothly. I even brought my kids, Kai and Donnie, who also had a great time.

We switched gears and headed to the '80s for some rock and roll by Def Leppard. Right before taking the stage, John Rich received a check for $250,000 which was another huge accomplishment. If that didn't get John pumped up to get on stage, I don't know what would. John took the stage and first showcased his commercial which had everyone very entertained. He then did a fun intro, but the glitch with that was that his timing was completely off. He went on stage a little early... about 20 minutes early, which with a live audience is quite a lot of time to kill. Instead of panicking, he did what he does best and that was perform. He took his guitar and hit the stage. I was impressed by his confidence to get back out there quickly and make the show go on, a true professional. Def Leppard arrived on stage, at the time planned, 7:00 p.m., and put on a high energy, awesome show.

When my father met with the executives, they both really loved the work that Marlee and John had done. They felt they both did an excellent job, and they would be rolling out both products. That's a great testament to how strongly they felt about the '70s and '80s concepts they had come up with. Both Marlee and John should be proud of the work they did. They are both incredible people.

Thank you for watching with me tonight. I will be posting another blog this week which has ALL the details from our live finale Sunday night. I will be sharing with you a behind-the-scenes look at everything that went down during the show. Episode 12: The Final Four... It's All or Nothing

Hey Apprentice Fans! Hope you all enjoyed part 1 of our finale episode. The week began and we were down to the Final Four with Lil Jon, John Rich, Marlee and Meat Loaf. The teams were feeling relieved but they would soon find out that there was little time for celebrating. My father surprised them with an intense lineup of interviews which would begin the next day. We brought back Celebrity Apprentice champions Joan Rivers, Bret Michaels and Piers Morgan to do the job.

One by one the Final Four entered the Boardroom and faced some very tough questions from those who had been in their very position before. John Rich was the first up and Joan, Bret and Piers were very impressed. He came across very solid as he has throughout the competition. As Lil Jon entered the Boardroom his laid back manner and ability to work under pressure was a characteristic that the group admired. However, eyebrows were raised when Lil Jon said that he expected Marlee and John Rich to be in the Final Four. I was disappointed to hear that as I didn't think Lil Jon would ever come out with something like that. He later corrected himself in the Boardroom, which was a smart move and certainly more characteristic of the guy that we have all known these past 12 weeks. The ever so emotional Meat Loaf entered the Boardroom and these tough judges certainly did not bring Meat Loaf to tears. They loved his passion but also thought that in business it may not be a good thing to show your soft side so often. Marlee was called in and blew the judges away with her perseverance and focus; however, Piers did question whether Marlee had used all of her resources, and could potentially be "tapped out" if there was another fundraising task ahead.

After the interview process had ended, it was time for the Boardroom where we would soon learn the fate of the Final Four and find out who would be the last two in the race to be the Celebrity Apprentice and win $250,000 for their charity. My father moved down the line asking each player who they thought should be in the Final Two. Although Lil Jon in the Boardroom gave the response he should have during his interview, my father agreed with Joan, Piers and Bret that the response he gave to them was not the response of a winner. And - as my father pointed out - similarly to Lennox Lewis, who also failed to include himself in the winner's circle, he was fired. Lil Jon left proudly, knowing that he not only brought awareness to his charity but also put 100% into every task. With three people left in the Boardroom, each one gave their honest answer as to why they should be the next Celebrity Apprentice. John, Meat Loaf and Marlee all had one thing in common and that was passion. In the end, as much as my father admired Meat Loaf's ability to show his emotional side and wear his heart on his sleeve, in business there is such a thing as too much emotion. Meat Loaf was fired and left the Boardroom, still rocking.

Marlee and John have done an incredible job and we congratulate them on making it to the Final Two! In usual Celebrity Apprentice fashion it was back to business and back to task very quickly. The final task, always massive, did not disappoint. Marlee and John were to create a new can and packaging, produce a commercial and launch a star-studded event for 7UP Retro. Of course they would need a little bit of help so "The Johns" were back together again! Richard, Star, Lil Jon, La Toya, Meat Loaf and Mark showed up to lend a hand. Marlee chose her theme first: the Harlem Globetrotters and the 1970s. As I am sure many of you were, I was shocked that Marlee let John Rich have the 80's with Def Leppard. Marlee seemed confident that sports would be a better pick for her, so I was looking forward to seeing what she put together.

As the new teams split off, I was instantly concerned whether Marlee would be able to handle Meat Loaf's creativity. As she picked Meat Loaf first, she obviously saw him as an asset to her team; however I think if she doesn't keep a close eye, she could lose the reigns very quickly to her own task. When Ivanka visited the teams I would have liked Marlee to step in and take the lead. With that said, there are many components to this task and Marlee would need all hands on deck.

John's team seemed to have great momentum and I think between Star, Mark and Lil Jon he had a very strong team behind him. Star as usual took on the logistics, but with the creative musical minds going I think it was important to delegate that area off to someone else. Lil Jon seemed to be more relaxed than usual, and perhaps he really was just tired or maybe it was that he was not in the race any longer. Regardless of what it was, you could tell John Rich was hoping his very strong "other half" would soon return back to normal. And Lil Jon did eventually step up and help put a little fire under the group when the clock started ticking...

The teams had come up with their designs for the product, both colorful and bold, and had organized for their talent to arrive and participate in the commercial. John Rich's team had arranged for Dee Snider from Twisted Sister to appear and Marlee had booked Geoffrey Holder who had recorded iconic ads for 7UP in the '70s. Both were very smart and exciting concepts. The day took an interesting turn when Meat Loaf received a phone call saying that Geoffrey Holder's lawyers had an issue with the release paperwork. That was a call that Marlee was certainly not prepared for. Meat Loaf lost his cool and it was up to Marlee to try and find a solution. They had no backup plan and time was not on their side, so Marlee would have to think quickly on her feet as to what to do next... I am looking forward to seeing how Marlee will step up and improvise. Both Marlee and John have a lot of work ahead of them and seeing them approach the finish line will be extremely exciting.

Hope you all enjoyed part 1 of the finale! Send your comments and predictions via my twitter page (www.twitter.com/donaldjtrumpjr ) as to who you think will be the next Celebrity Apprentice. See you next week for the LIVE finale!
