George Takei
Japanese American National Museum
http://www.janm.org
As a child growing up during World War 2, George Takei lived for years with his family and thousands of other Japanese Americans in internment camps. Due to this experience, he later became affiliated with the Japanese American National Museum, which seeks to promote cultural appreciation by sharing the Japanese American experience. George takes great pride in the museum because it also tells the story of thousands of Japanese Americans who were imprisoned like himself, but then went on to fight for America and democracy in World War 2, becoming one of the most decorated units after the war. George is also one of the original founders of this museum, having once served as its Chairman of the Board.
