In 1990, after Debbie Gibson rocketed to fame, she made her first donation to sponsor an impoverished child in a third world country through Children International. Children International eases the burdens placed on impoverished children around the world through direct sponsorship and gives them opportunities for a better life. As her fame grew, so did Debbie's connection to the organization by visiting the villages where her sponsored kids lived and helping with its fundraising effort. Debbie has seen how much her efforts have helped the children, most of who are now attending school, but she has also become well aware of how much more there is to do.
