Dayana Mendoza
Latino Commission on AIDS
http://www.latinoaids.org
As winner of Miss Universe in 2008, Dayana Mendoza became the national spokesperson for Latino Commission on AIDS and has continued to work for this charity well beyond her reign. The Commission is dedicated to fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Latino community by focusing on health advocacy, promoting HIV education and awareness and developing prevention programs for high-risk communities. Dayana was publicly tested for HIV in order to help promote their mission of HIV education and prevention, and she also makes visits to their offices to sit in with the clients to hear their stories. After moving to the U.S. a few years ago, Dayana considers The Latino Commission on AIDS her home away from home.
