In the new suspenseful four-hour miniseries "Meteor," two scientists, Dr. Lehman (Emmy Award winner Christopher Lloyd, "Back to the Future") and Imogene O'Neil (Marla Sokoloff, "The Practice") discover that the giant meteor Kassandra, approximately three times the size of Mt. Everest, has been knocked out of its orbit and is now barreling straight for Earth, as showers of smaller meteorites begin to lay waste to major cities around the globe.
Desperate to alert authorities, Dr. Lehman and Imogene contact military scientist Dr. Chetwyn (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Jason Alexander, "Seinfeld") who discounts their warnings of impending doom. Undeterred, the two determined scientists decide to drive from Mexico to the nearest United States armed forces base to plead their case. The military, who has also detected the meteor, calls in Dr. Chetwyn to help devise a solution to destroy it.
Realizing that Dr. Lehman and Imogene were right, Dr. Chetwyn desperately tries to contact them for more information. Struggling to make it across the border, they run into trouble and Imogene is forced to make the trek alone. With time quickly running out, Imogene continues her tortuous journey to get in touch with the military and relay the coordinates and a plan to destroy Kassandra.
As smaller meteors begin to pelt a tiny California town, Sheriff Crowe (Golden Globe nominee Stacy Keach, "Prison Break") helps one of the families affected by the meteor showers. As the growing panic brings out the best and the worst in people, getting everyone into the safety of a shelter becomes one of Sherrif Crowe's main concerns.
In the midst of the chaos of the meteors showers, Sheriff Crowe's son Jack, a Los Angeles police officer (Golden Globe nominee Billy Campbell, "Once and Again"), tries to arrest his corrupt partner Calvin Stark (Michael Rooker, "JFK"), but quickly finds himself in danger instead. Knowing that Stark is a dangerous psychopath and is now on the run, Jack is concerned for the safety of his teenage daughter and father, whom Stark is determined to kill. As Jack tries to stop him, he still feels compelled to help people in need along the way, including Imogene.
"Meteor" is an RHI Entertainment presentation of an Alpine Medien Production in association with Larry Levinson Productions and Grand Army Entertainment, LLC.
