Al Michaels

Al Michaels, one of the most renowned sports broadcasters of all time, will call play-by-play for Super Bowl XLIII. He'll be joined by his Sunday Night Football colleagues John Madden and Andrea Kremer.

Michaels has been hailed by the Associated Press as "TV's best play-by-play announcer" and has covered more major sports events than any other sportscaster. He is the only play-by-play commentator/host to cover the four major sports championships: the Super Bowl (6 times), World Series (8), NBA Finals (2) and the Stanley Cup Final (3).

Among his many accolades, Michaels has captured five Emmy Awards for Outstanding Sports Personality -- Play-by-Play (Host) and was inducted into the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame in 1998.

Michaels garnered his first Sportscaster of the Year award in 1980, the year he made his memorable call, "Do you believe in miracles? Yes!" of the U.S. men's hockey team's dramatic upset victory over the USSR at the Lake Placid Winter Olympics. His Olympic reputation grew with his coverage of figure skating and hockey at the 1984 Winter Games in Sarajevo, in addition to road cycling and track and field at the Summer Games in Los Angeles the same year. He also covered hockey during the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympic Games. For 20 years he was the play-by-play voice of "Monday Night Football on ABC.
