Krysta Rodriguez stars as Karen's (Katharine McPhee) lively new actress roommate in NBC's musical drama "Smash." Ana struggles with the realities of launching a career in the theater.

California native Krysta Rodriguez is a seasoned stage performer, having appeared on Broadway in the original casts of "In the Heights," "Spring Awakening" and "Good Vibrations" as well as the revival of "A Chorus Line." Rodriguez also originated the role of Wednesday Addams in the Broadway production of "The Addams Family." Other theater credits include "Bye Bye Birdie" at Encores!, the national tour of "The Boy Friend" directed by Julie Andrews and the title role in "Gidget the Musical" directed by Francis Ford Coppola. She was also seen on television as a guest star on "Gossip Girl."

Broadway: "Godspell," "West Side Story." Off-Broadway/Regional: "Tick, Tick... Boom!" (New World Stages), "A Simulation of Assimilation" (The Kitchen), "Twelfth Night" (folk music version at The Vineyard). Ana is a fixture on the new musical scene, appearing in readings and workshops for Joe Iconis, Justin Paul and Benj Pasek, Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk, Michael Friedman, and Ryan Scott Oliver. She frequently performs with her all-girl punk rock group. She's also done performance art pieces at Mobius in Boston, and was one of the interpreters in Tino Sehgal's seminal "This Progress" at the Guggenheim in 2010. She lives on the Lower East Side.
