Johnny Wactor

Contestant

Johnny Wactor grew up as the eldest of three brothers in the town of Summerville, South Carolina, just outside his favorite city, Charleston. With a limitless passion in anything he found interesting, he was keen on spreading himself thin. His first loves as a kid were pencil sketching and sports, and he excelled in both. He was accepted to Rollings Middle School of the Arts for visual arts where he furthered his practice in sketch and painting, however in his first year his attention was drawn to the theater arts program, and he yearned to be on stage with the actors who seemed to be rock stars at his school. A regular class clown, he felt this was his chance to turn his often troublesome disruptions (for which he was often sentenced to detention) into something that was applauded.

Sports were also an integral part of Johnny's youth. He played everything from football to baseball to soccer and favored swimming. From age eight to 10 he consistently won the sprint freestyle event and then reached success among the USA Swimming league relatively quickly which compelled him to train harder. Throughout high school he won numerous individual state titles, national rankings, All-American status and led his high school male swim team to its first team state title as team captain.

He continued his study of theater throughout high school, after which he attended the College of Charleston where he double majored in business administration and Spanish. Hesitant to pursue a degree in fine arts initially due to seeing so many poor, struggling actors, he eventually auditioned for, and won, a small role on the TV show "Army Wives." He began taking acting lessons on the side and continued to audition for small indie roles, finally landing two more roles on "Army Wives" which led to his meeting actor Paul Wesley ("Vampire Diaries"). Paul's encouragement and advice about acting was enough to inspire Johnny to continue pursuing his dream.

Johnny finished his degrees and packed his bags for Los Angeles in the fall of 2009 and quickly delved into professional training at Elizabeth Mestnick's Acting Studio where he studied Meisner. From there, he worked on numerous low or unpaid acting gigs before he fatefully met the creator of "Siberia" while bartending.

Apart from acting, Johnny loves spending time with his family and close friends and his pug, Frank. Typically you can find Johnny somewhere near the ocean, the gym or Death Valley Memorial Stadium on Saturdays. He grew up on classic rock music and has mastered cooking his grandmother's baked mac 'n' cheese recipe. Johnny is eternally grateful for the struggles and sacrifices he's endured over his journey that have led him to his opportunity with "Siberia," which he feels makes it all the sweeter. He maintains that staying positive and persevering will get you anywhere you want to be.
