Super Bowl Sketchdown!
Posted February 3, 2012 6:09 PM
It's almost Super Bowl Sunday and to celebrate we thought we'd share some of our favorite football sketches from throughout the years!
So before the big Giants/Pats showdown, gather 'round the laptop and enjoy some laughs!
We've got a great list of some classic and newer football favorites. Check them out and leave us some feedback in the comments section. And go easy on the nachos and wings this weekend.
SNL Digital Short: United Way
One of the things we missed most this past season was seeing Peyton Manning out on the field and nothing would make us happier than seeing him once again tossing the old pig skin... at children.
In our book, it's just not a sporting event unless the Spartan cheerleaders show up. Watch as Ferrell and Oteri perform their first cheers ever as East Lake's most enthusiastic students.
Fewer things make us laugh harder than Lovitz's "Liar," but Walter Payton's outfit in this sketch definitely gives him a run for his money.
Tom Brady's Falafel City
Listen, we're not posting this sketch as some sort of Tom Brady psych-out, we're posting this sketch because we still think the Falafel City idea is a viable Brady option should the Super Bowl not work out in his favor.
We're not saying that Belushi was an authority on football, but "just tuck the ball" sounds like some very solid advice. You listening Victor Cruz, Wes Welker??
I Did It Cold Open
It just wouldn't be an SNL football sketch compilation without including a pick from the OJ Simpson trial era. Watch as the Juice makes an enlightening return to broadcast journalism.
Church Chat: Joe Montana & Walter Payton
Great sketch, greater sweaters. Well isn't that special.
We'll say it: Deion Sanders, Adam Sandler and Tim Meadows may have been the greatest 3-piece rap group ever... for one night only... in early 1995. Peace, we outta here!
It never ceases to amaze us how good Jesus is at predicting sports outcomes. Wonder if he'll be cheering for his cousin this Super Bowl...
Billy "the Gun" Van Goff was not a player to be messed with because Billy "the Gun" Van Goff was crazy.
It's really important that everyone knows that Greg is NOT an alien. And for the love of Randy Dukes' safety, do NOT question this.
Tom Brady helps illuminate the finer points of sexual harassment in the workplace.
Hot Dog From Jason
Hands down the best part about football is the hot dogging and no one was better at it than Deion Sanders. No one. Check out that form on his Tootsie Roll.
Bill Swerski's Super Fans
And finally, what would a football sketchdown be without the Super Fans?? We always feel a little sad when da Bears don't go the distance, mostly because these guys are emotional eaters and we worry, but in the words of sports fans every where, there's always next year. Have a great Super Bowl!
And remember to chew!!
