Anna Faris/Duffy
Hello!
I was sitting in my makeup chair when that Katie Couric cold open started. Man, I was laughing so hard. Tina told me that many of those lines were taken directly from that interview.
Anna Faris was great. I know it seems like I say that about all of our hosts, but that's just how it is! Really fun and easy going. I liked Duffy a lot too. I didn't know she was Welsh. We were shooting promos for the show and I was like "where is that accent from?" I think I just asked her as a kind of icebreaker. She was really sweet and told me about the town she is from in Wales.
I loved that driving sketch with Jason. There is this line that I am so glad stayed in (sometimes lines get cut from dress rehearsal to air). He asks towards the end (something like) "do you think he minded when I made that pun about his sister's suicide?" It just got me because I was trying to figure out what that pun would have been.
It's always fun to do Senator Obama. Especially when the always brilliant Darrell is right across from me. I worked on my impression over the summer. I downloaded some of Obama's podcasts and his audiobook, and I listened to them on my iPod, just as I would normally listen to music. I still do.
It was so cool having Chris Parnell around too.

Okay, this is Hal Wilner. He finds all the incidental music for the show. That means anything that is soundtrack-y or in the background. He also has to find soundalikes when we can't get the rights to certain songs. He is a living music library and has been with SNL since the early eighties. He's produced so many albums and
soundtracks. Way too many to list here. Sometimes I think I am so cool when it comes to music, but I am quickly put in my place when I talk to Hal. I have tried over and over to tell him about new music, but he's always way ahead of me, having already worked with whoever I bring up. Anyway, that's him.
