Sasheer Zamata returns to "Saturday Night Live" as a repertory player for her third season.
Zamata has wowed audiences with her impressions of Michelle Obama, Rihanna and Solange Knowles and her recurring character Janelle, a naive teenager with a dance vlog. After graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in drama, she moved to New York in 2009 and began performing improv and sketch at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. She has also performed stand-up at colleges and festivals across the country. Zamata's web series "Pursuit of Sexiness" was named one of Variety's Top 10 Web Series in 2013, while Cosmopolitan named her one of "13 Funny Women to Watch in 2014." Zamata still performs improv with Doppelganger and at UCB. She will appear in the 2016 movie "Sleight."
Zamata is from Indianapolis and currently lives in New York City. Her birthday is May 6.
