Detective Augie Blando

Detective Augie Blando also came to Manhattan East Homicide from Narcotics, where he and Calderon were partners. Blando is the squad's class clown, a role he's happy to fill. He keeps his outlook positive and his energy up at all times - an attitude he honed early in life. Growing up with a mother who suffered from chronic depression, Blando would try anything to make her laugh - and he got so into the habit it carried over into his adult life to the point he probably couldn't stop if he wanted to. However, his tendency toward joking should not be mistaken for a casual approach to his work, and his abilities as a detective should never be underestimated. After all, Blando's a blond college-boy type who managed to make a name for himself working Narcotics in heavily Hispanic and African-American neighborhoods of Manhattan, which means he must be resourceful and quick on his feet.
Blando is married to a woman who might be insane. She certainly throws him out of the house a lot - which means his colleagues often find him spending the night in the squad room, even when he's not working round the clock on a case. To compound his troubles, his mother-in-law also lives with them. As might be expected, Blando turns most of his situation into humor and appears to shake it off, but there will occasionally be times when it will get to him - which will be expressed in unexpected ways...
