Tom Brown Tracker Knife
Great for hunting, carving and field work - and with a careful hand, it's also the perfect whittling knife. I can't wait to carve wooden Tammys and feed them to the fire.
2 American Gold Eagle bullion coins
1 to trade for goods and 1 to respect.
Whiskey
Besides "courage," whiskey is the most important thing you can carry into the wilderness. I prefer single malt Scotch. Kentucky Bourbons are also acceptable. Blended whiskeys are not. Do not ever drink a blended whiskey. Blended whiskeys are for the cowardly and feeble-minded.
Bow drill
Used by men of the land for years to build a fire, I made mine out of the wood of an Eastern White Cedar tree, found while on my 1st grade hunting trip.
Can of Crisco shortening
Self-explanatory. Makes things taste good.
The Complete Works of Lord Byron, Vol. 4: Letters and Journals
Lord Byron was one of the greatest poets the world has ever known. Despite that, he had a worthwhile life. He was a boxer; he fought in wars; and he was described by his girlfriend as "mad, bad and dangerous to know." I like to pass time while I'm alone by reading his correspondences, mostly because he makes fun of all the other poets.
Swanson family beef jerky
This recipe has been in my family for a number of years. The number will not be shared. Nor will the recipe. The end.
Pictures of both my ex-wives
In tough times, everyone needs a reminder of what to live for. In my case, it's attending both of their funerals.
Can of beans
I kill most of my food. Then, as a reward, I let myself eat a can of beans.
The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx
The pages make good kindling.
A compass
I need my bearings. I'm not a damn wizard.
