Parenthood

RETURNS THIS FALL THURSDAYS 10/9c

Q: Who was the first person cast in the show? I love the casting.
- Amanda Soto

I consulted with Tommy Schlamme, who directed the pilot, and our casting directors from the pilot, and they reminded me that the first person we cast was Sarah Ramos (Haddie). She came into one of the first network casting sessions. Normally you would wait to cast the children until you've cast their parents, but in Sarah's case we were at risk of losing her to another pilot, and we all agreed she was so great and didn't want to lose her. It's a testament to Sarah that we cast her before we cast anyone else in the family.

Q: I love Sarah's character and I liked her bond with Seth. Will he be back? What more is going to happen with her character, she deserves to have a guy or something good to happen to her?
- Jean Koontz

Agreed. The woman deserves a win. There's a storyline coming up where Sarah gets a little recognition for her writing that could signal a big change in her life in the future. In terms of a guy, yeah, we're working on that too.

Q: Do Christina and/or Joel have family? If yes, are they going to be incorporated into the show?
- Michele Bittner-Quigg

It's already such a big cast and it's challenging to expand it even further. However, I love the idea of doing in-law stories. We don't have any plans to incorporate that this season, but should we get picked up for a third season, we've talked about it, particularly about introducing some of Kristina's family. I think the idea of them coming in from Ohio and staying at Adam and Kristina's would be a fun way to turn the tables on this very Braverman-centric world.
