Q: Love love love this show... How will Max react to the new baby and how will Kristina handle a baby and Max????
- Jessica Nelson Crawford
Max reacts to the baby with a little more disinterest than his parents would maybe hope for. Kristina struggles in one episode with trying to get her entire family to go out and do something together. The story asks the question, what family activity can you do when you have a six-week old infant, a boy with Asperger's and a daughter in her senior year in high school?
Kristina has a lot on her plate this season. Not only will she have the new baby and Max, but she has a daughter in her last year at home before college and a career opportunity that comes up she doesn't want to say no to. I really love all these things hitting Kristina at once. She has the expectation of being able to do it all, and I'm excited to see her as she struggles to make that happen.
We're contemplating adoption. I'm looking forward to seeing how Joel and Julia go through this process. It's a different perspective. Do we actually know that Joel's ready? I'd love to see them explore the option of adopting a baby/young child with special needs. I'm truly looking forward to seeing the paths they take and hope it's realistic.

Thank you. This is definitely challenging and sensitive subject matter, and I'm very excited to be taking it on. The story that we're telling focuses on Joel and Julia entering into an unorthodox adoption agreement and watching the complications of that evolve over time. It promises to be one of the more emotional storylines of the season.
